MK808B clone, video frame rate issues

Hello, if anyone read my other thread this is the reason I wanted to install a new rom.
My mk808b clone has video playback issues. When I play a video, the frame rate drops then picks up again every 3 seconds, at first I thought it was only hd videos but it also does it to my regular videos no matter the format. It plays them, there's no lag in video or audio it just seems to drop frames, I thought it might be a kernel issue but I'm not sure. Has anybody else experienced this and found a fix that doesn't involve installing a new rom?

I tried all the pre-installed media players I also downloaded Mx player but they all do it

Follow mo123's instructions in this post http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ll=1#post97527 to download the ARM7 Neon codec for MX Player + configure it to use the codec. If you don't want to have to click the HW+ button each time you play a video, there's an option in MX Player settings to ALWAYS use hardware accelerated (HW+) decoding.

Also, Flumpster's Beyond XBMC http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...BMC-(Beta-3-3) is a really nice thing to have and it already has hardware accelerated playback built in. The only thing you *might* need to do is update libstagefright.so --- but if you have Android 4.2 it should already have a new enough version of libstagefright. If you are on Android 4.1, there are some links on the forum for the updated one. I don't know how to update it, but that info can be easily found on the forum.

I tried the arm7 neon codec, mx player it played videos worst(my kernel isn't over clocked)

Xmbc player seams to do a better job at playing hd videos with an occasional frame drop.

          Thanks for the help.

You can either hold the little button down with a paperclip as you plug the mk808b in to boot into recovery mode, or the easier solution is to use the reboot app ( http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?1050-Reboot-App ) and select "reboot into recovery". I think clockworkmod has the logo of a gear cog wearing a tophat, while the regular android recovery screen looks like the green android guy with his chestplate opened... More than likely you don't have CWM installed, but it won't hurt to check...

Since you have a clone I don't know how easily CWM can be flashed. I only see CWM available for original and the mediatek clone... It's also been determined that there are different versions of clones containing the ap2610 wifi chip --- so what works for one person might not work for you. Go into Android Settings and find the place where you can look at the device's information --- if "vendor software version" says R-Box, then you probably CANNOT flash any random AP2610 clone rom, and you are limited to using "R-Box" firmware... Here are two pics of it from another member...

                MK 808b rk3066 ap 6210 Firmware
Bought MK808B, Everything works well except the video, it does not work smoothly slows down,
already downloaded by 40 different drivers they all hang on the logo or even on the run.
                android 4.2.2 (rk30sdk-eng 4.2.2 JDQ39 eng.zs.20131219.191736 test-keys) RK3066_R-BOX_ANDROID4.2.2-SDK_V1.0.0_130308 ; it has ap6210 chip onboard (wi-fi and bluetooth).

The main problem with that device is low performance in playing hd and full hd fideo on 23' monitor. I assume that is because of locked to 1000 MHz cpu frequency. When playing hd movies it consumes almost 100% of cpu. And the picture is not smooth (my eye can catch those frame drops though xbmc shows 30-40 fps) - tried different players - same result.
Well you are not the only person reporting problems with it, but so far I have not really seen anyone able to flash a new firmware to it, nor install CWM.

I did notice that your firmware looks like the 2013 one so it might be worth speaking to whoever you ordered it from and see if they can provide updated firmware.

edit: oh yea, by the way, I have the original MK808B model and it is not perfect either... Without an overclocked ROM, it will still drop frames, even in 720p...

I managed to root my MK808B clone with "root master 1.3.6" I installed romtoolbox pro, using the cpu tool it said that it was set at (1400mhz max) (400mhz minimum) so I increased my minimum to (1200mhz) my videos play almost perfect with mx player and xbmc.

Please let us know if it works stable throughout an entire film.

I might try what Prahjister just recommended (interactive).

I did what you recommend but it still won't play perfect, so I decreased min frequency to 800mhz. it plays almost perfect(good enough for me) on xbmc with an occasional frame drop.
