This might be what you are looking for: http://linux-rockchip.info/mw/index....=Linux_on_NAND

Also, there is an IRC channel mentioned on that site --- with more people in the channel than I expected, too.

    edit: More info ---
Latest picuntu seems rk3188 centric and it certainly does not work for rk3066.As you correctly guessed, "RK3188Loader..." is not valid for a RK3066 chip.

I'd recommend you to generate and flash an up to date 3.0.36 Linux kernel for RK3066 using the instructions here:
Starting from Rockchip Linux' source code, along with several tools, we will end up with a recovery.img file. This is used to flash the rec...

And to use the latest Ubuntu, by using the instructions here:
Currently for us, owners of ARM devices of the Rockchip family (though this post applies to any ARM CPU ), when wanting to boot Linux we ha...

As for me, yesterday I installed Debian on my computer and guessed my way through the process of installing the packages needed to build the MK808B kernel In the end, got a 5mb kernel.img, which I'm guessing means I did something wrong. I couldn't figure out how to flash in Linux, so I used Windows to flash that .img to recovery just to see what would happen. Boot up my MK808B, reboot to recovery, all I see is the standard Android recovery screen I gave up and reflashed the stock 720p Android firmware.

Yeah, totally the same experience. Compiling the kernels as described does not give the same result as the uploaded kernel files.
I was only able to make picuntu work with the 3.0.36+ kernel (1080p worked, 720p more or less) from HwSwbits:
      - flashed finless (1.7 | 2.1 doesnt really matter)
      - flashed kernel img to recovery partition
      - started finless and rebooted in recovery

Thanks for the links, already knew visited them but I forgot that the info is there. Should I open a topic with all my link collection and a small description what i found out/whats are my results to let others know?

That's up to you --- I rarely see any discussion about Linux on MK808/B here --- I don't know if people are not interested, or just don't realize that it's possible. I did find there is a section on this forum for discussion of this http://www.freaktab.com/forumdisplay...u-Ubuntu-ports but there are very few mentions of MK808B

Everything worked fine for me. Does anyone know if videos play correctly on picuntu yet? I know 2 years ago they lacked video acceleration. IDK if it's been fixes since then or if even just basic videos work (haven't had the chance to try yet).

          edit:
Yea everything installed, but I don't know how to progress from here. I mean obviously the first thing I need to do is setup wifi. So if I turn off my security temporarily that'll work?

Any other work arounds because I live with alot of other ppl and their gonna be really upset about having to reconfigure all their devices... lol

There is some info about this on post #4 --- not sure if you saw it.

I still want to get OmegaMoon kernel up and running with this ubuntu mini https://github.com/sgjava/ubuntu-mini

I haven't had a chance to try it yet but this seems to be exactly what we're looking for. Only downside is that it's a multi step process. In a nutshell we start off running off the SD and we transfer a rfs onto the nand. From there we change the kernel and load one that I'm guessing searchs for the RFS on the nand.
