    TELEFUNKEN Tablet Root discussions

    Hey Bob,

    I have a RK29 tablet, and after to have tried all the ways to root it without success I found this forum and my hope is back!!

    The tablet: http://www.4home.co.za/index.php?pag...mart&Itemid=90

    The tablet is coming with Gingerbread 2.3.1, and there is not any support from the manufacturer (NOTHING!) so I follow the steps to dump the ROM and I have put the update.img here:

    Please let me know if you can root it when you have time

    And another question:if I understood what I have read in the forum it will be too risky if I flash a ROM that it is not specific to my tablet, so I can't try the generic ROM that you did? ROM -> Freak Tablet (Generic RK29) Finless ROM TE1.4 (133 megs)

        Is this a 8 or 10 inch tab, the site shows 8 with a pic of a ten inch one

          FYI unlike many other RK29 ROMs This will not boot on my Arnova 10 G2. I get the boot screen then nothing not even ADB will come up.

          So with that said I have no way to test for a BRICK ROM. But you have your update.img and my STOCK ROM should not be a brick since it is update.img taken apart into a ROM flash kit with no mods.

          But again, for the full root with GPlay I cannot test it so Arka, you will be a crash test dummy. Know that you can unbrick if I screw up. I don't usually screw up a 1.2 root but it does happen sometimes.

            Daman, I used my kernel to boot this and this is a 8" tablet.

            Well this is no fun. It already has the Google market and slideme market pre-installed. It's an older version of the Google market but I am sure it will update.

            So I guess all I need to do is root this thing and convert to ext4.

                sorry if there si already google market

                but you will make happy a few more people, looking for a root for this tablet I found in a few forums people looking for desperately a stock rom since they have broken the original one and they didn't have any support from the manufacturer http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/...ms-please.html

                my model is 8inch but there are 7 and 10 inch models too

                  Arka, if you could look through the README.txt and update how to get into flash mode or post here how to do it so I can update the README so it is correct.

                          Daman, I hope the specs were correct on that web page. 1024x768 screen size.
                          Seems odd to me for an 8" tablet.

                            That is what the write up says, if you look at the 10inch version has a screen resolution of 1024 x 600

                            But yes it does sound a strange resolution but must be write.

                              Rooted ROM with EXT4 ready

                              OK here is my Finless ROM 1.2 for the TELEFUNKEN tablet.

                              This has:
                              1) File system converted to EXT4. Should be much faster than stock. First boot will be longer but next boot up should be way faster than stock.
                              YOU MUST REBOOT BEFORE DOING ANYTHING AFTER FIRST BOOT UP!!!!!
                              2) SU and SuperUser.apk installed. Latest version.
                              3) /System and rootfs mounted as RW by default
                              4) ADB debugging enabled


                              Here you go... Enjoy!

                              Let me know how iot works and again Arka if you could help with the instructions on how to put the tablet in flash mode that would be great!
