    CX919 screen flickering + reboot

    Hi,

Maybe you guys can help me out. I have bought a CX919 (rk3188 non T) i have check its a genuine cx919 hw version 2.

The stick was working fine with the rom it was shipped with. but i wanted to flash a 4.4 rom ( have done this to my 2 cx919 T version sticks) I flashed the stick with

    - a928_4.4.2_kk_finless20 kitkat
    - D33 non oc kernel 1080p

After flashing the rom the stick started to have some flickering i flashed back a stock geekbuy rom but the stick keeps flickering and giving reboots.
    i have tryed :

    - Finless rom 1.6B with both kernels
    - CX-919 Android 4.1 Firmware 28th May
    - geekbuying-cx919-4.2-6210
    - kasty-cx919_1080p-422-20130730_rooted3 (doesn't boot)
tried the roms with the Ap6210 WiFi MK802-IV 720p no oc kenels.

There is one rom thats works (does have some flickering but not much). but with opening xbmc it starts to flicker and reboots

    - cx-919 0715 update

I have checked the power supply now I'm using my samsung 3A charger.

    Any solutions ?

If you have a CX-919 with a version 2.x PCB you probably have the RK3188T.

The firmware that will probably fix this for you is here:

If that works you can use finless rom 1.6b (720p only) with this kernel:
    kernel_cpustock_gpustock_ddrstock_vsync_fix.zip

This is the geekbuying kernel with the vsync fix applied. Finless has said he'll be working on a finless kernel based on the geekbuying source soon.

What power supply are you using? Have you got a rock solid branded 2A power supply you can try it with? I'd recommend trying the geekbuying rom and finless 1.6 with a solid power supply.

You can also try changing the screen resolution / refresh rate under display options, though this is less likely to cause the issue.

Are you running it with no heatsink on the chip? I know my CX-919 came with a pretty rubbish heat sink, but I don't know how well they run without anything on them.

Otherwise your best bet might be finding out exactly what was on there to start with, an email to the seller perhaps.

I'm using a 3A samsung tablet charger to test it with. I'm using the original heat sink glued with thermal paste and glue directly to the chip itself without the tape. the stick isn't running hot.

the flickering starts on the splash screen. running it at 720P or lower reduces the flickering a bit. but when running xbmc i cant go any further than the xbmc home screen the screen flickers for 20 sec and than the stick reboots.

The seller wanted to swap the sticks but buying a new one is cheaper than sending it back so I'm looking for a way to fix it.

That's the exact issue I had, which I fixed by using the kernel I posted above with finless 1.6b. If it's none of the above, I'd guess at a hardware fault. Someone else might be able to help you further.

              Do you have a 3188 or 3188T ?
