    Minix X8 announced!

Minix just announced the new X8. These are AMLogic chips.

I have created a new sub forum in the AML area for discussions on it.

    http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...dels-announced!

Please don't post about the X8 in this rockchip area.

    Thanks,
    Bob

So minix leave Rockship as base behind? Or is this only a platform extension?

Yes,thats what Minix says on their Facebook page, they will use RK3288 in another device later this year,so they dont skip RK.

Well I'm having a hard time seeing what the difference is between the regular x8 and the x8s... but exciting news nonetheless thanks for sharing BOB. Any nuggets of wisdom for us on the chipset? More or less dev friendly? Open source? Documentation? Excited for it's release.

Scribed henceforth from thy G pad.

Great... now they will create 2 new flagship versions --- one with the s802H and one with the RK3288!

I'm confused if I should get the s802H version or wait until the end of the year for the RK3288!

Great news for anyone who has yet to buy.

Less good for people who have bought from 3 months ...

Rumor has it that the RK3288 device will be the X9.

How come I've read somewhere that it's actually better that they're using an AmLogic processor vs a Rockchip one. Any idea why?

I don't know. I haven't read any comparisons between the two. I only read comparisons between RK3188 and RK3288, the latter being a spectacular improvement.
