Interesting comparison between S89 ROMs

Hey all, so today I compared the S89 elite and the S89 standard ROMs.
Only difference I could see to get one ROM working on another is the wifi files!

Basically the kernel is different and the wifi files! A few other things also but nothing I see major.
However the interesting part is standard kernel runs FINE on the Elite version!

I want to do a test for you folks testing DTS and audio across the different chips.
What if I could fake the Elite into doing what the standard does?

So what I am looking for is someone with an Elite that knows how to test DTS and pass through etc.
I would want you to flash the standard ROM on your elite then I will give you a patch ZIP update to fix your wifi.

The standard and elite models (AFAIK) are not supposed to vary in passthrough support. Both will be the same SoC and thus the same issue no hardware accelerated audio passthrough and decoding.

Differences noted by all manufacturers: Inclusion of AP6330 for 5Ghz, Bluetooth 4, +8GB for standard model for total 16gb eMMC.

Yea I got that but the kernel is not wifi tied. So if the Standard ROM works better than the Elite ROM, I can make the Standard ROM work on the Elite and visa versa!!

So for those that have an Elite and are having problems I would like you to try the Standard ROM and patch wifi to see if it works better. I cant test DTS or passthrough. That's my point. Lets see which ROM is better if there is a difference at all. I will say the Standard ROM was built a day later than the Elite and there are some subtile changes in framework.

So is the WiFi a module or are both built in? I don't see any real differences other than WiFi/BT and addition of more flash. I'd say if you can make one ROM to rule them all, well, I'd flash it.
