OK thought I would share......

Now understand this first AMLogic S802 quad core ROM is pretty raw! Needs a lot of work. I did use my custom ROM I just released which did add some score points

But it just came out and right now the ROM is made by Tronsmart which never has made the best ROM's to date. They also refuse to really work with us developers to help them. But needless to say... This first release is smoking RockChips 3188 ASS!

This is stock kernel and no OC (since you cant even with root).

So RK..... Had this AML chip come out when 3188 came out, you would be the looser!
Your new 3288 better smoke this and let me tell you, as AML improves sources for the S802, expect this score to go MUCH higher!

By the way, I should have shown this. But the GPU scores totally WALKED all over RK's mali implementation!

During OpenGLES test, I was getting 30+ frames per second and RK is in the teens.

There is no doubt the rk3288 will be a powerful SoC. The problem is how Rockchip handles it's firmware development, kernels, etc. Oh and thanks to Pivos, AMLogic has great hardware h.264 decoding support.

Oh and the whole 3188-T situation made me quite sour.

It took RK 1 year to get the 3188 even working at a level most people enjoyed. Then it took developers from HERE to make it better! To date we still have users with screen flicker and other issues! RK does not support YOU USERS WELL and now that the 3288 is coming, expect NOTHING FROM them for future 3188 support! Look at the 3066... It DIED without ever being totally correct because the 3188 came out!

China is not about supporting people after a few months of release! They are working on the NEXT THING leaving everyone that bought already in the dirt!

Expect the 3288 devices to be just like the 3188 devices last year. A long and painful buggy ROM process that may never get fixed! Then a year from now the 3388 will come out leaving you 3288 owners in the shit. This is what I do not like about RK...

Took them a year and then they set all of the progress made back at least 6mo with SNEAKING in the T chips. (Rockchip to blame? Factory? Reseller? I blame rockchip as it's the SoC nobody wanted or needed.)

I have tested 15+ 3188/T models and I can already see that this is going to be a much easier journey with this s802. I'm no fanboy I really didn't care for their dual core SoCs but that's because they were incredibly underpowered.

Honestly, I don't see a reason to compare AML s802 and RK3188. Of course AML will perform better, it's one year newer than the Rockchip solution The same way that the new RK32XX will be better almost for sure.

I agree that Rockchip is not precisely great in terms of software, but AML is not beautiful either. I have used AML and RK from some years, and although AML is a bit better than Rockchip (in boxes rather than tablets, and in software generally speaking), both companies need lots of improvements. At least AML is more AOSP-like and they don't patch Android so heavily as RK or Allwinner, but they are not great.

By the way, I would consider Amazon Fire TV, and Zte FunBox with tegra 4. They are cheaper than these new AML, and at least amazon has already released kernel source, something that companies like Tronsmart will never do.

Just what i've said recently, those who support the community will gain most from their customers, we are literary lending a hand to help testing devices and giving proper detailed feedback, and they dont seem to care, and the worst is when the RK clients start behaving exactly like RK.

Strange companies i tell you, first they reject every tip and hint one finds, later they just implement things without even giving credit, if not individually at least for "The Community".

How many times have we seen Minix forums rejecting an issue and aggressively denying it, then after things calm down, they announce the FIX?

anyway, RK3288 though looks powerful, but i am not going to fall for that again, it was the same story with Minix as it was just the most powerful device after i finished a year of research on sticks/boxes, then again AMLogic seems to offer Dual DDR3L at 1600MHZ meaning 4 GB ram.
