    Measy U4C stock 4.4.2

In case someone might find this helpful...

I found a stock 4.4.2 rom for the measy u4c on a polish(?) website. Download link is the last one in the page: "Aktualizacja do Androida KitKat v4.4.2 - Measy U4x". Default language for rom is still English.

The RK Tool's english.ini has been overwritten with polish, you can overwrite the english.ini file with the proper one if it's important. But really, the second button is "upgrade" is all you need.

Recovery mode for U4C is reset pin + micro usb (labeled 5v dc) port connected to computer. The driver installation should be similar for all other RK usb devices, but if anyone is like me and have followed ALL the guides but have no success getting the flash mode to show up in the tools, it might be a good idea to open up the .ini file for whatever tool you use and enable USB1.

To root, I used the www.kingoapp.com

If anyone have guides for extending the /data partition, that would be awesome.

          it works in u4a!
Just one issue: now cpu max speed is 1.2Mh (it shoud be 1.6). Is this a problem from kernel?

This firmware is working great on my Measy U4A! I also used suggested kingoapp to root it.

However this firmware doesn't have a Power Off button so I found a solution by installing "Power Button" application from Google Play.

            One question for all please...

Has anybody tried to replace stock kernel from this firmware with one of these available in this thread?

Furthermore, is it possible and safe to flash only kernel or there are other things that should be done?

            Tnx in advance!

Is it working at 1.2 or 1.6 mhz?

Unfortunately 1.2 GHz.... I found a solution to unpack this stock firmware and repack it with some new kernel. Probably I will try to flash it again and see results.

Are you using the same stock ROM? Have you found any other nice solution for your stick?

Well... Regarding to my previous post, I tried to deal with kernel patching and I was able to figure out this:

                  1. how to unpack Measy u4x stock 4.4.2 ROM (using FW tool RK30xx RK31xx 3.8)
                  2. how to patch kernel.img extracted from unpacked ROM (using vsyncfixomatic & overclockomatic3188 scripts on my Macbook)
                  3. how to pack patched kernel.img back to new firmware image to be able to flash back (using RKBatchTool 1.7)

So, I tried to flash my Measy u4a using this new firmware with new patched kernel and it works but it seems that swapping kernels is not the only thing that I should do to get CPU clock over 1.2GHz.

So probably I am doing something wrong :-( I suppose that problem is in boot.img that also contains kernel (zImage file) which is the same size as kernel.img (couple of bytes difference) and should probably be changed too. Am I right or wrong?

What should I do next? Can somebody help me how to modify boot.img (insert new kernel into boot.img) or give any other good advice?

Generally I am satisfied with this ROM even with 1.2 GHz speed but vsync issue is really annoying and I am trying to solve it.

Sorry if I said something that doesn't make any sense... I am a beginner...

                  Tnx in advance!

I'm still using the stock firmware. I haven't tried other solution because in the last weeks i didn't had the necessary time.

Meanwhile, I think I found a way to modify boot.img. Probably I need to do this:

                      1. Strip RK header - remove first 8 bytes from modified kernel.img to get kernel.bin (using command:dd if=kernel.img of=kernel.bin skip=8 bs=1 count=200000000)
                      2. rename kernel.bin to zImage, swap old zImage file with new one, repack boot.img, repack ROM image, flash,...)

                      Can somebody confirm my thoughts?

Sorry I am not using WiFiDisplay and screen mirroring so I didn't tried to find a solution for that.

However I found a solution for my Measy u4a to replace this stock firmware with cpu freq. limited to 1.2 GHz.

I didn't mess up with modifying this stock firmware but instead of that, I tried to flash several other firmwares and finally found a working solution for me :-)

I just figured out that Measy u4a uses AP6210 so actually any firmware with AP6210 should work on this device).

However, combination of Tronsmart T428 KitKat 4.4.2 Finless ROM 2.0 downloaded from here http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...inless-ROM-2-0 and AP6210 kernel for TV sticks downloaded from here http://www.freak-tab.de/d33/kernel_AP6210_V300.zip gives amazing Antutu benchmark results – 21097. For now it seems stable and the only issue I found is volume control which is not adjustable (volume levels are not adjustable in multiple levels/steps) but I can live with that. Video playback also works great.
