Beta Stock firmware and root method for M8 tv box

Though some guy already get the M8 tv box, but i have to tell you, that that are all beta M8 sample, the M8 factory hasn't official release the bulk stock for M8, so we are still waiting for the bulk.

Here is the lastest beta firmware from M8 factory, here it is:

notice, still have google paid app problem, and beta sample's wifi still need to improve.

we will pushing the factory to release the official bulk asap, because we also collect some orders for this model.

the Root method still the same as vega s89:

but be careful, you can't flash the vega s89 rom in M8, and you also can't flash M8 rom in vega s89, they are from different factory, it will brick your device.

If you like the M8 shape, i suggest you wait till the factory realease the official bulk, and solve the weak wifi signal problem

Great questions, i use the SD CARD to flash the firmware on M8.

some tv box will use the USB port port as OTG port, like the TV01 model. and you use the male to male USB Cable to update the firmware.

i will confirm if the M8 can do the same thing.

No video in XBMC Gotham 2+

I installed the firmware provided by Geekbuying. XBMC Gotham beta 1 plays the video but does not show subtitles. Gotham Beta 2 and above doesn't play the video. You just get the sound and a black screen.

Looks like this has something to do with hardware acceleration. When I disable hardware acceleration in the XBMC settings the video plays but stutters as hell.

I rooted the device to see if that would solve the problem. Didn't help, still no video in Gotham 2+

            I wonder if

            a) The XAF build of XBMC using MX Player as an outboard player would produce smooth h/w accelerated video?

or b) if XBMC for Ouya would work better than the standard Gotham releases?

Finally get a chance to test the M8 device.

              bad news

i can't find a way to connect M8 with the PC. it has no OTG port on M8,just two USB 2.0 port.

i try to use the male to male usb cable to connect, not working.

so for M8 users, you can't use the similar root method as vega s89 to root your M8.

and you also can't use the amlogic tools to flash your firmware, you just can use the SD Card method to flash firmware.

              it's sucks.

To be honest I like the SD card upgrade method better, so I don't see this as a disadvantage.

My device has firmware of the 14th of April and the WiFi problem seems to be solved. My main problem is that XBMC Gotham 2,3 and 4 don't work. No video playback. Gotham 1 works but doesnt show subtitles.

Finless Bob's zipfile for rooting works great. http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...oot-ZIP-update

I am not saying this is a disadvantage, i just can't find a way to root the device right now, and i don't know how to do the screenshot to finish the review right now. .

Are you sure it works? because i have bricked one of my M8 device when i flash the vega s89 firmware on it.

the vega s89 and M8 use different bootloader, the firmware is not the same.

                          Received my M8s Today

Wifi Perfect,XBMC Running iTunes Trailers now 720p with No Audio-Video Sync Trouble which I had to root Tronsmart s89 to solve Sync issue ...

Haven't Tried Root yet but I believe Finless SD Root will work but DO NOT Try to install Tronsmart S89 firmware to Square Boxes! (unless you want to brick the device)

Also Very Happy there is no OTG Port stuff going on cos its a big pain in the a..

Packaging much better than TS89 , so far so good
