Finless ROM 1.3 for the M8 Square Box

Hey folks, I made a ROM for the Tronsmart S89 using the M8 stock ROM.
While I am calling it a beta for the S89, this is NOT a BETA for the M8 since it is the M8 ROM!

Also I am not flashing recovery or bootloader with this ROM so it wont brick you!

Rather than repeating the post here that I have made in the Tronsmart forum, I am just going to link you to it.

However I prefer that M8 discussions about this ROM stay here in this post rather than in the S89 post or it will get messy! So PLEASE post questions and comments here for the M8. Thank you.

If anyone can sort out the wrinkles in this early release for the M8, you can. Specifically, can paid apps from the Playstore be installed? Is Wi-Fi working as it should now? There has been a newer factory rom since you prepared this one. Would greatly appreciate your comments on it.

It's Pretty Good

any feedback on this rom?

I'm using it, after trying just about everything else out there, and it's typical Finless, solid and smooth.

Pros:

- Best overall Ethernet performance of any rom so far. This was the decider for me.
- WiFi pretty good too
- works very well with XBMC RC1 as well as the modded Gotham version posted by Oman.
- no issues with the interface or with sound

Cons:

- Paid apps will not install (like all other roms)
- It's an earlier build than, say, the last release from Acemax, and may not be completely up-to-date, but this doesn't affect its performance.
- Although rooted, system folders can't be written to. Haven't figured this out yet

You have to mount system as RW. By default it is mounted the read only.

Using ES File Explorer click on tools on the left.
click on root explorer and enable it.
click again on root explorer and a dialog will pop up.
select RW for everything and now you can write to /system.

bob you are the man lol got 92mbps ethernet speed

ok so i decided to try his rom after reading somebody saying theres a big improvement in ethernet speeds over the other roms. I was running the 4-18 rom of EM8 with the modified Gotham RC1. On that firmware and Acemax I always got around 26-30mbps ethernet speeds with speedtest.net app. I run the same test with bobs 1.3 beta rom and i get 89-92mb/s consistently lol. How the hell is that possible? Bob what did you tweak that enables it to do 3x the speed

Tried one of his very early s802 rom and had some difficulty with the keyboard but will try this 2moro thats for sure

I know some tweaks and I am surprised after 2 years the China ROM dev's have not done the same tweaks! While I tell most everything and how to do things, some things I do keep to myself.... That's one of them. But if you know what to look for, you will find it!

in this firmware can i change the audio input and output settings in android settings?
on stock i was not able to change this when i have an a2 remote plugged in.

Maybe at AML we get the chance they will hear to the market and don't do what they mean they have to do... we will see...

I noticed the audio/video sync is slightly off on your custom rom..the EM8 4/18 firmware its perfect. With your rom my android icons on the launcher you added turned all white for an unknown reason requiring a reboot. The blinking led in standby also remains and its very very annoying could you look into this? Could you please make the ethernet mod to the 4/18 EM8 firmware? i feel that is the best rom atm but the ethernet is not as good as on your 3/27 based rom.
