Has anyone ever been able to get ubuntu or any other other Linux distro working on the ut1?

there is another subforum dealing with this topic:

    http://www.freaktab.com/forumdisplay.php?143-Linux-Picuntu-Ubuntu-ports

currently there are several ways to install linux on your rk3188 mini pc:

    1. picuntu (current version is 5.1): installs a single boot ubuntu 14.04 with xfce desktop environment on your tv box. i don't know if they have implemented hardware acceleration in this version yet.

which brings us to second solution:

    2. linuxium: dual boot system with android and debian or ubuntu. hardware acceleration implemented.

    https://plus.google.com/+IanMORRISON/posts/ZmLjNTyXYDs (android 4.2 + ubuntu 12.04/debian 7)

    https://plus.google.com/109451178006...ts/25YoAMM4UUP (android 4.4. + ubuntu 14.04)

apart from these two are several ports for the radxa rock development board, which also should work on the ugoos ut1:

Thanks for the reply.I'd forgotten about this question.Long time ago

Are these distros, bootloaders etc designed to work with stock firmware and kernel ?.I running Wasser's firmware and I'm not sure if there'd be problems.

the files are usually .img-files so you can install them with the rkbatchtool. I don't know if its possible to replace the kernel with the rkandroidtool. I think the kernels are mostly stock with a bit tuning.

the dual boot versions often consists of rfs-images (root file system).
