    Why is Round Case S802 Better than The Square M8 Box?

    Update;

    Please Use this Firmware Sorted almost all my Problems ! Wifi speed now around 35-36mbps ,Cpu Speed now 1600mhz max like s89 not 1100mhz anymore...

      16Gb Round model (s89) has 6330 5+2.4ghz+BT4

      Thats makes the things even more interesting cos its the same model so why M8 (Square) wifi is slower ?
      installed 18th dated Firmware now I've got around 9-10mbps but still half of my s89 8gb(6210)

        Hope this week I'll finish a (hardware) comparation Beelink M8 vs "square" M8. You will see some important things there.

          That would be great ...

          I was worrying about the fact M8 Square may have no future due to hardware differences between s89 but so far so good Wifi chip model is Ok , Samsung Nand Flash Great, Form factor of the case with many Vent holes really Good ...

          As you have mentioned Some Caps are missing on Mobo Design compare to s89 you know If thats a big deal or not , Other than that Its all about Firmware development ...

          They are working on it, My boxes came with 17th software ,there is a download link for 14th here in forum ,just downloaded and installed 18th, almost daily releases !

          P.s Minix X7 also has 6330 wifi chip...also learned that 6330= Broadcom BCM4330 Wifi module + Broadcom BCM40183 BT module

            Just realised Max CPU Frequency is 1104mhz only! tried Cpu Tuner etc. not working despite device is Rooted...

              Cannot wait for my new m8 box

              From what i have told new firmware also h/w mods to address the bad wifi issue with square m8 box and it come pre rooted.

              Personally I think the sqaure m8 would be on par with the tronsmart s89

                not pre rooted but don't need a root to run xbmc (s89 must be rooted else you have Video-Audio sync issue) and I guess Wifi wasn't even working now its working but its just working ! 5-6mbps next to wireless Router, imagine you lost a bar ... good part is Its all about Drivers not hardware ...

                  Shenzhen Tomato Technology has send me a sample of their M8 Android TV Box based on the latest quad core AMLogic S802 processor which is said to run

                  And find out, where the antenna and the chip is placed and you get the answer...
                  In my eyes it is totally complete lack construction...

                    Antenna always placed at that point thats not a problem and its not a reception kind of Problem We got Full bars of Signal Upload speed is ok for my connection 6mbps out of 6mb but Download is another story....

                    I believe its a Driver issue

                      That's against everything I know about broadcasting technology...

                        Good Point ,that should effect to signal Strength isn't it? Correct me if Im wrong...
                        (Metal plate Close To Wifi Chip not the antenna...)

                        we have no Trouble with that, box picks up Very Strong Wifi Signal, Perfect Upload Speed but Poor Download...

                        Im quite confident with the Hardware V0.92 mobo. has better Wifi chip and Nand Flash (samsung) than 8gb S89...

                          Yeah, it's like a shield crosses the radio waves, so you maybe will have at one side of the housing a strong signal and at the other side of the housing not...

                          The other point is, but I don't really know how the Broadcom BT chip submit his signals to air, but the place under the PCB for this chip, and under the metal plate at top of the housing too, for me doesn't seems to be a good idea too...

                            Yes that make sense I will remove the Case and check if That effects the download speed or not...
                            Best Antenna Solution is Minix Type...

                            is it a Rocket science? How much those external antenna costs? They dont even use U.FL connectors just Solder the antenna wire to the motherboard = trouble
