    Think I've bricked my box......

Hi all, just found this forum, wish I had found it a bit earlier now.....

    I bought a rk3188 tv box, I believe it's a tr42 as it's got bluetooth where the cs918 does not.

Anyway, I rooted it successfully. I didn't make any Cwm backup because I had no idea what I was doing tbh. Then I obviously did something badly wrong.

When I switch my box on I get the Android logo on screen for 30 secs then the screen just goes black and stays black. I cannot get into recovery mode even tho I've tried everything I can possibly find to try. My box has a recovery button underneath for what is worth.

I've tried thru my pc to adb but I get device not found.

Have I bricked it for good or can someone give me something to try?

Thanks for your help in advance!

If you get the android logo, even if for 30 sec, that means the boatloader seems ok and that it started to try to load the kernel. If that is the case, you should be able to get into recovery mode the usual way. In my case what I do to get into recovery is:

    1) remove power cable from unit as well as microusb cable.
    2) plug the microusb cable to the unit and to your PC.
    3) press the button at the bottom of the unit and keep it pressed. Wait about 5 sec
    4) (still pressing the button) plug in the power cable at the back and continue to hold the recovery button for more 5 min approx.
    5) release the button

That should do it. If you go into the software of your choice to load the rom (RKDevelopTool, etc.) from your PC it should show your device in recovery detected. You should have the correct windows drivers installed if this is your first time connecting RK in recovery.
