iFive Mini 3 dead after kernel flash

    Hi everybody.

Yesterday I flashed an OC Kernel to my iFive Mini 3 Retina and I accidentally flagged "Parameter" checkbox. Now the tab won't boot. I tried so many ways to get it out, but no way. I tried on Ubuntu, on Windows and on OS X: I can't get rid of it.
I modified "setting" according to VID & PID I can get from Device Management on Windows: in this way the tools I tried (RKAndroidTool, ROMFlashTool, ROMDumperTool) recognize the tab as "RKAndroid MaskRom Rock USB" but there is no way to flash it. I also tried "RKFlashKit, RKFlashTool" on Ubuntu but no way. Even on Mac with "RKFlashToolOSXv2" the device won't work.

Can you please help me? I don't sleep from yesterday to get it work but no success. Please.
    Thank you.

PS: I get the kernel from here. I already used this kernel and it worked okay but this time I flagged "Parameter" checkbox before to flash the "boot.img" and then the tab stopped to work.

How did you get the tablet into mask mode?

I did nothing. I just noticed that if I modify both VID and PID (reading them from Device Management in Windows) in "rkflashtool.c" or in "config.ini" (when I used Rockchip Batch Tool) then the tools recognized it as MaskRom mode.

If you are in mask mode by default, you may have a NAND chip failure. Try erasing IDB from the RileyROM flash tool and see if it will flash.

I tried to erase IDB but I always get an error message. I really don't know how to get out of this hell.

Try flashing the RileyROM with all of the default settings without erasing idb.

Since the tablet only goes to mask mode, I think it is a hardware failure.

After both whole night and a whole day, I find the solution. Finally I got out this situation.
How did I? I tried every tool, every driver, every OS: it didn't worked.
Then I destroyed the tab with a hammer and now I feel really good.

                  Goodnight.

Try to use a windows 7 PC with rkbatchtool, pres the reset hole, or the keys combination, and maintain them pushed while the ROM is being flashed.

Thank you for your reply leolas. Just to let you know: iFive mini 3 Retina has no reset button nor volume keys (it has just power/sleep button).
Anyway this tab isn't in my business anymore. I'll tell the garbage how to unbrick it LOL

sorry to heard that. It must have a way to enter in flashmode, I don't have it, but if it was destroyed...
In my experience with rk devices, they are unbrickeables, at least I didn't got to pea brick any of my devices.

Yes...but it is stuck in mask mode...it appears that the NAND chip can't retain anything. Rather than smashing it, I would have at least tried to get it replaced.

The kernel flash failures make me worried about flashing my iFive Mini3 Retina... So far I'm quite happy with the OTA upgrade which came from iFive some time ago. Only root permissions are missing.

Is there a way to root the device using a script without flashing like with most RK3066/RK3188 older Android tabs? I've got PIPO M1 and M9 which were easy to root using a script, and also safe to flash with custom FW.
