    Custom ROM for supposed CS918

    Hey

Purchased what was claimed to be an Android CS918 box online and after doing a bit of research have found that since it has bluetooth it cannot be. Having thread a thread on here I have found out I need to pics of the board which I have done. Have not used it much atm due to having problems with it for some reason on my TV? It sometimes flashes infrequently for no reason if I set it to output at 1080p in setting so this I presume is a software problem

I have linked the photos below. The PCB says 'RK3188_BOX_SZY_X6'
    Then reads 'V1_0 131024'

The wifi chip I think is ESP8089 and the bluetooth MT6622N. Pics are below

I'd love to be able to use 1080P with no problems so if anyone knows of any custom ROMs that would work that would be great

    Thanks in advance

Hey, yeah found the first link initially but found it weird that it was the same hardware from an Android stick. Also a bit gutted that apart from the stock ROM there's seems to be no other available

If I was to use a different ROM from this section made for other BT and WiFi chips, would this mean everything apart from BT and WiFi would work fine? Wouldn't be a way to get the software for those separately later then?

My internals look exactly like that. Anyone knows if the firmwares by Lewy20041 or wasser can be used on our device? Currently on stock now.

On a seperate but related note, do you have any problems using VPN clients on stock? I've rooted and installed hola vpn client. No errors but cannot seem to connect anywhere using it. Tried other VPN clients and face the same problem. I'm guessing the stock firmware has security crippled (to disable the lockscreen) and this messes up VPN functionality. Sigh.. I desperately need a firmware that has VPN working..

Identical problem here. I've flashed the Wasser firmware, looks way better running at 1080p but Wifi, ethernet & bluetooth not working.

Is there a way of installing the correct Wifi etc drivers independently?

I can get 1080p (I think) via the stock firmware but every 3 mins or so it flashes? Need to give it a good thorough test on 720p though to find if that actually is the problem though

Anyone have any update/help for me? Can do without wifi if it allowed a stable 1080p ROM so any ROMs I could try that support my BT at least? Think my wifi chip is rare

Hey, that's great let us know what works

You wouldn't happen to know a good version of XBMC that works well would you? The standard version of XBMC is problematic and can't get the latest versions of Beyond XBMC to work?

Also if you knew how to back up ROMs? Want to try some custom ROMs out too but would prefer to have everything backed up so if I do mess up I can easily get back

                  thanks a lot mate

I'm using the Gotham standard version with no problems at all. Smooth playback etc. I'm going to buy titanium pro and try that.

Hmm, using the standard version I seem to have problems, maybe because I've installed a wizard.

Will Titanium backup everything including Kernel etc?

Will let you get off to test ROMs in a minute lol

                            Any luck mate?

Btw, was wondering if anyone knew after hiding the nav bar by clicking the downward arrows how to bring it back up? I usually repeatedly click in the corner and move left to right and it eventually reappears. Anyone know the correct method?

Haven't had chance to flash or backup yet mate. As regards hiding the bar you drag it up from the bottom. Or use 'hidebar' from app store which gives you true full screen.
