Please Help - advice needed rooting and best ROM for XBMC 1080p

Hi Guys,

I have been trying to find a way to root my device and find the best ROM on google and various sites for a few weeks and I am at a loss. I downloaded a software called Vroot (its free and it roots many android devices but it didn't work for me).

I need help on rooting my android box and help/advice on best ROM for xbmc and HD streaming for my box.

With current ROM even DVD quality stutters and pauses even with a 60 Meg wired fibre optic connection.

I am new to Android scene but loving it and this website. Keep up the good work.

No worry's I have not used it myself but many others have & it worked for them so good luck & welcome to FREAKTAB

Oh & if you could post more info about your device eg whats its model number, device name where you bought it ect,, it will help others give you some custom rom advice

For PCB 'K-RK3188-V4.2' you can try this

Help needed (but I don't know, what's about static MAC... wassers new T-R42 1.25 1080P)
At "4pda.ru" I found:

Can someone please advise I want to root my box before I put a new ROM on it.

I am running windows 7, 32 bit and I have put the box in USB debugging mode however when I try to connect device to USB 2.0 on my laptop the laptop is not recognizing the device. I have tried 2 different laptops and 3 different usb leads and various ports, nothing even comes up to say unrecognised device.

Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to load some drivers on this particular model before windows sees it? Thanks much appreciated.

Got it Rooted thanks to your advice.

I know I didn't need to root it to put new ROM on it but certain apps I have work better with root!

Now just need to try and get that new ROM on it.........

- firmware without kernel for B351_V2.0
- 1080p/720p kernels for new revision

I think you have to download both and place the kernel to the same directory as the firmware and flash with rkandroidtools, but not sure because I have another box (see sig.)

Thanks mate, this makes more sense now. I will try using that tool again tomorrow and might need your assistance again, sorry to be a pain. I am a newbie at rooting and rom changes as not done it before.
