Current status of 1080p playback on original MK808?

    Hi all,
just got me a benq w1070 projector and tried some 1080p 3D files on xbmc 13 and performance was abysmal. I have the Finless 1.7 installed since last year and although 1080p files play more or less ok, 3D content is simply unwatchable. Performance is kinda better on MX Player but there are still frame skips and stutters. What I'd like to know is what firmware (+ kernel?) can I flash on my original MK808 to boost its HD playback quality? I have installed a GPU fan on it since day one so overclocking shouldn't be a problem. Thing is, I tried reading about MK808 1080p options and got lost as some developers don't support it anymore, links are dead etc. Thanks.

    Hi,

    Give a try to BeyondXBMC
MK808/B are not meant for great 1080p Playback but they can play fine, not sure about 3d

Of course I dont think they can handle BR ISO of course (mind you, I never tried)

    Good luck!

Thanks will try that. Any tips on firmware + kernel combo from anyone that has tried them?

Thanks, played a bit with the kernels and it's a lot better with an overclocked 2Dark4U kernel. Only problem is that the Finless ROM you have in your youtube link has an android bar that is manually hidden and that messes up my XBMC buttons position

I can't remember exactly but try another Rom which has auto hidden feature
I remember that before starting XBMC, if you minimize the bar, it will be fine in XBMC also
To get the bar back, access the settings app and it will appear

            Good luck!

I think I minimized that bar before starting XBMC up, not sure, will try it now, thanks.

Edit: Nah, when I minimize the bottom bar and then start XBMC up, it pops up again automatically. And this ROM's menu bar hasn't got a shut down button on it like the 1.7 one from Finless I had before. It looks like 1.6...
