    808B... Bricked? Need help.

So i received my MK808B today and tried to flash Finless 2.1. I hit erase NAND like it said, that worked fine, then i hit flash rom, and that worked fine.. after that nothing happened and now when i try to get into recovery mode using the button all it says is USB has malfunctioned... I have tried 2 computers with the same result...

Is it bricked? Is there any way to recover?

Do you have an mk808b with original hardware, or a clone? Also, which operating systems are you using?

Have you tried connecting it to a TV to see if it boots up normally?

I bought it from Amazon, i have no idea if it's a clone. It was running whatever OS it came with and i tried to flash 2.1 finless.

I tried plugging into a TV. the blue light comes up but no picture on the screen after the seemingly failed flash.

Well hopefully it uses rkbatchtool 1.37 if so erase with that if there is a lewy20041 hfw 1080p rom for it it comes with another batch tool and that you simply flash the file over with after the erase on rkbatchtool 1.37,this is if it is a rockchip device and there is a lewy20041 hfw 1080p firmware for it,it has allways worked for me on a k-r42 when it f@cks up so try that.Even if you do not won't the firmware your flashing it over with it doesn't matter it should fix it as it somehow erases and makes good the nand.Hope you get it going mate

Sorry it's not rk3188 chip in it and i can't see a lewy20041 hfw firmware for it try another firmware that includes a different updated flash tool use a current hybrid firmware with newer tool to see if it makes a repair? If your using the latest tool erase with an older tool and reflash with a newer tool and alternate firmware see if that makes good anything, very best of luck to you anyway.
What is the world if you don't explore?

Finless 2.1 defaults to 1080p display (even tho you may have flashed 720p files).
Attach to a 1080p TV for first boot so you can see screen. You can then change display to 720p, if that's what you prefer to use....

I was actually asking about the OS of your computers.

I agree 100% with PHYSC. The Finless ROM package should include this folder: "alternate_reboot_to_flash_tool". Open that folder, and right-click RKBatchTool.exe and select Run as administrator. If you have a device with original hardware (non-clone), then the latest firmware (in .img format) seems to be this one: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1bnF2tIJ though I have not tried that one yet myself. If you prefer to use the last version posted to Geekbuying's blog, here it is: http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php...ore-tv-sticks/

The [...] button next to FW Path section is the button to press to load the .img file. I believe "Restore" is the flash button.

My computers are running windows 8.1... I can try a 7 machine if you think it will help at all..

I ll try that flash tool but the problem is that the PC wont even recognize it as a device, it just says "USB has malfunctioned"

I have tried countless attempts to flash my MK808B on Windows 8.1 and have NEVER got it to work. Geekbuying posted a fix, but they even admitted that they never even tested it: http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php...n-windows-8-1/ I tried their instructions and it still wouldn't work. The device is detected, but refused to flash. Someone in the comments section suggested some driver from a random blog --- but then if you look at the comments on that, people mentioned that it won't work either. My advice is don't even bother trying.

I've been resorting to finding an Win 7 PC each time I need to flash.

Also, forgot to mention --- the stock ROM that I linked to is 720p output. Even for 720p, the power adapter that came in the MK808B package SUCKS. I use either my TV's built-in USB port to power the device (most people don't recommend this) or a 2.1a usb hub. From ididmytime's old FAQ:

Q: I keep getting freezes, my device keeps crashing.

A: The first step to take for any issues like these is to change the power supply. They are not all made equal, and some can't give the device what it requires to run stable. Any decent 2amp 5v charger should be more than enough.
Also, if you plan to flash a 1080p kernel in the future, I think you are definitely going to need an even better power adapter than that. I believe Shomari said that he uses a 3.5a power adapter with his overclocked 1080p kernels.
