RK3188 - Stability Solution - (HELP needed - experts only!)

So, I have found something that I tested on my MK908-ii, and it made it 100% stable!
We all know that NAND chip on MK908-ii is low quality and causes all sorts of problems (Random reboots and app crashes), and I am sure this is not the only device out there on which it is happening.

I have read somewhere that one guy fixed his problem by replacing the NAND chip, but not everyone has skill and tools to do that.

    But, there is other way.

I am talking about Micro SD card system Booting from Radxa: http://wiki.radxa.com/Rock/SD_booting

I followed that tutorial of theirs and installed that system on my 16Gb Class 10 micro SD card.

I can tell you that in few days of usage I did not have any reboots or app crashing and the system is playing movies perfectly.

But the system is missing few stuff, and I do not have the skill to work around that.

List of stuff that is missing:

    - Support for Logitach webcams eg. (C170)
    - Support for AP6210 wifi/bt chip
    - Support for Tronsmart RJ45 to USB LAN/WAN adapter
    - More space then 1 Gb for userdata

    Kind Regards.

    PS.
Please people, who ever decides to give this a shot, do not overclock it too, because this way it is just 100% stable.

I have the same stick and think I have a solution also have you tried finless kk beta or the one by neomode they should sort ap6210 atleast. What kind of boot times are you getting because going of the specs of the onboard nand I'm sure a decent sdcard will wipe the floor with it depending on the controller.

Does not matter which firmware you use actually.. Only thing that matters is running it from SD card, because NAND is very very much unstable. If I could choose I would choose running underclocked Finless 1.5A from SD card, then that would be dream come true. But any other ROM with support of things I mentioned in my first post would do.

Since I have NO IDEA how these guys from RADXA built that pure SD card firmware (I tried comparing their NAND firmware to that one that runs on SD card and only thing I could pick up is 3 extra files in system "exfat, exfatfsck, mkexfatfs" also different sizes of kernel and recovery files), now I am trying to cook-up something with linuxium-s bootloader to solve the matter..

      Regards.

Okay, I tried linuxium's bootloader, and it worked nicely for a day or two and then it all got messed up, it was working without any reboots or any crashes, I was running version made for MK802IV (latest version).. and as I said it was awesome for some time, but after a day or two it got messed up, and crashes started again... I am suspecting that the reason is that the bootloader, kernel and some other stuff still stay on nand in linuxium's bootloader so no matter that you run android from the SD card it still stays unstable, so what we need is fully running android from SD card with bootloader, kernel and everything else as I mentioned in first post of this thread.

Mr. Ian Morrison a.k.a. Linuxium gave me this link saying that I should look into it: http://androtab.info/radxa_rock/sdboot/

Since then, me and mr. marcelv have been trying to figure it out in this thread: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...721&viewfull=1

So people, if anyone else has any skill and interest in this matter please join us in search for cure for 100% stability of RK3188 devices.

        Regards.

          a small test!!!!

could a few others try this on the sticks nand? Flash the official tronsmart jelly bean rom from their site and also picuntu but not as a dual boot. Now from my experience IT SEEMS that as long as i shut down both of these i dont get corruption. MK908II tronsmart jelly bean seems to do a proper shutdown and so does picuntu. I think that the kit kat roms ive tried with every version of kernel etc dont do a system legal shutdown via intent.shutdown. Ive also discovered that on kit kat if my stick wont boot i only need to flash misc.img to get it to boot again. This formats /data and /cache on first boot. So either misc.img is being corrupted on a bad shutdown (more like power off) or /data or /cache is getting corrupted. I should try and confirm this better if i find a reliable CWM recovery. These are just my findings and doesnt mean im right. I am in the process of trying to find a kit kat rom that will do a system legal shutdown or add that function because both picuntu and jelly bean (official tronsmart version) take a few seconds to shut down but any built into kit kat roms is pretty instant. Now to me any apps your running will be using cache so most likely cache corruption. It would be nice if others could confirm this. I am available by pm or certain chat clients to try and speed things up and to try and keep the threads cleaner. I can see a few adb sessions coming up
