Pipo users...Unite! Let them know we aren't satisfied

I've been working with Android devices for 3 or 4 years now,and I've made hundreds of custom ROM's for you guys. Last year, I decided to get started supporting the Pipo brand...because last year they had some very promising tablets. I don't regret my decision, since I'm kind of known throughout the world, now, as the Pipo guy. I currently own the M5 (3066), M8 Pro, M7 Pro, M6 Pro and the U8. All of them still work like new, today...and I'm very happy with them...even running KitKat on most of them. They've served me well as test beds for my array of custom ROM's. The bonus is that I can boot and run M9 Pro and M8HD ROM's on my M7 Pro.

You can see by every manufacturer's download site, that you can really only expect one or two firmware updates for a product before they move on the the newer models. Pipo has historically continued to support their firmware a lot longer than all of the other brands...which has kept me very busy. Each of my ROM versions has been based on firmware updates....so when I get to v2.7 and 2.8 for a particular ROM...that means I've made ROM's from 27 or 28 firmware versions for the same tablet. You can either look at it as exceeding expectations...(high road)...or really crappy first batch of releases that need further fixing before they are acceptable (low road). I'm taking the high road on this.

Here's where the problem comes in. After a product has been out for a year, the factory quits supporting it. Which is happening with the RK3188 versions of Pipo's line. They've teased us with "beta" KitKat versions, which I use and like...and have improved upon as much as I can...but there are still 3G issues, deep sleep issues, camera issues and trouble getting legacy apps like QuickOffice to work.

I sent an email to Anna at Pipo the other day, requesting links to their most recent updates for KitKat. The first reply I got from her said that "Pipo has no plans on issuing any more KitKat updates at this time". I sent her another email, outlining all of these problems we would like to see fixed in at least one final update. Her reply to me was links to the latest KK versions...which happen to all be what we are already using today.

I know there are thousands of users of the M9 Pro, M7 Pro, M6 Pro, M8HD, M8 Pro and U8 tablets who have gotten a taste of what KitKat can do on their tablets. We've all invested in these products with the expectation they would last us a while. Some of us lucky ones, who haven't had serious hardware problems are very happy with the KK firmware..."if it would ONLY do.......one or two things better".

I have not seen a single KK update since late March/ early April for ANY of these devices...and I'm seeing that Pipo is shipping new releases with....guess what?.....Jellybean firmware.

I think it's you users' responsibility to politely request Pipo to finish what they started with their KitKat development on your particular tablet. There's no need in getting rude with them....just explain that you feel it's important for them to fix these issues and release AT THE VERY LEAST a final official KitKat firmware...since they did start the process, themselves. I would LOVE to close out all of 2013's tablets with one last ROM with all of those things fixed.

    Again....PLEASE BE NICE!!!!!!!

I own an M6pro and a miracast key PIPO X5.
With kitkat M6pro reboot every time I try to connect in miracast with X5. With JB it works.
I'm asking to Anna support for a new ROM for M6pro and/or PIPO X5. Both needs further improvement to be stable in miracast and DLNA mode (In DLNA mode X5 doesn't detect the Access Point).

For everything else Kitkat rom is stable and fast enough for me.

I have sent an email to Anna.

I too hope Pipo sees this as an opportunity to regain confidence of those who feel somehow disappointed and to keep loyal customers from moving away from the brand.

I own a M9Pro, a M7Pro and a M8Pro, I like them very much and take them with me everywhere I go, and dont feel enbarrassed in any way when people ask me which brand is it. I just show them what my Tablet can do. Just about anything other tablet in the market can do, and sometimes... better!

Let's get our tablets (and ourselves, of course) the service they need and deserve!

C'mon, start writting and send Anna a note.

          Same for me.

I have bought a Pipo X5 and my M8HD reboots when it connects to X5.

For everything else Kitkat rom is stable and smooth for my usage.

Email sent to Anna, I urged her to reconsider a strategy that continues to pump out tablets with high end hardware, but jelly bean for firmware (and a pretty plain version of jelly bean). That might work for the super cheap tablets you can buy at the drug store, but users of higher end tablets expect more.

As much as I love my M6pro (and everything you guys have made it), I probably wouldn't buy another product based on Chinese firmware because of this.

I sure hope that they will reconsider.

I sent her a message and hope they will release at least one final KitKat rom for M8HD tablet. This is not very good customer service to stop supporting not even a year old tablet models so I really hope they come to their senses.

                    Got response from Anna:

                    Dear Friend,

                    Good day.

Thank you for supporting our products.

I released several 4.4 firmwares for some models a month ago on Facebook.

They are not the final version, but they work well, you can have a try.

Ιs it true that the RK3188 is not being developed anymore in order to run KitKat and this is why Pipo is not releasing new official and stable versions ?
It can run only the kernel 3.0.36+ and it can not be changed.
If it is not upgraded to version 3.4 it cant run Kitkat smoothly.

It's probably not PIPO! Remember all these companies are tied to RockChips SDK releases on their SOC. If RockChip is not updating KK for the 3188 then I doubt seriously you will see any updates from manufacturers. So really you should probably be bashing on RockChips door!

I have a feeling now that 3288 devices are coming out this is where their focus will be. Just like 3066 when 3188 came out. Other than a few SDK releases it pretty much stopped. They want to sell their new chips now.
