Anyone with PCB knowledge - damaged my HDMI port.... I think... Vega S89 Standard

Question for Finless or anyone else in the know... I disassembled the Vega today to check out the board and heat sink etc, seen a lot of people opting for thermal paste and additional cooling measures... Really shouldn't have bothered - guess I'll never learn! - Mrs is like "so you've broken another box after a week once again!" Told u so etc etc...

Anyway now in getting no HDMI out obv I have the AV option and it works so I know the board is still functioning, but upon reassembling, because this board is such a PITA to get back in its housing, I've managed to scratch a small area on the blue board next to the HD port , minute little mark but I'm sure I can see a bit of bronze and I'm assuming this has caused my fault??!!! See left of nd port -excuse the bad pics

Are my suspicions correct ? Coz I can't see why else its not working, I've scratched paint off boards before accidentally of course but never noticed it to cause any probs it's such a small little knick. Could there be another reason my HD out isn't working. I know this isn't to do with any settings its definately hardware related...

Help appreciated sorry for the essay

Nope.. don't think its it. There is not tracks there only a ground plain. Could be static electricity. Were you wearing a jersey or anything that generates lots of static?? You could have bllown your protection circuitry for the HDMI port - those 3 legged guys behind the port. Can you get a better closeup of that for me? - the circuitry behind the HDMI port

Thanks for your replays, much appreciated.that's the mark/cut/scratch I'm on about sorry couldn't crop or circle it to make it clearer so I appreciate the work there alone

I was just wearing an ordinary t shirt so don't think so, but you've got me thinking!...

I have had no hdmi problems whatsoever untill I took the case apart and put back together.I had to use a whole lot of 'persuasion' in the process though. Both in removing and replacing the housing, as I'm sure you've both probably experienced yourselves...

I'm guessing I've damaged something in the process, I have checked as thoroughly as my eyes will let me in good lighting and all soldering and. connections seem okay so I can't for the life of me work it out. I know it's nothing to do with hdmi settings as I haven't touched them, and I'm not one of the unfortunate ones that has problems with there TV sets not giving the needed support. the Vega worked fine on both of them hours ago.

I've tried multiple Hdmi cables ...

I'm stumped and pi**ed off coz I reallydont wanna go through the hassle of returning it to after over a month of waiting for delivery and only a week or 2s limited usage. Then to top it off I get that notification - **New Finless 1.5 Custom Rom** (kill me now!)

I'm 100% convinced that scratch is not the reason. If you post a closeup of the circuitry behindthe hdmi port. Thought i saw something...

Ahh was kinda hoping you had spotted something. Yeah tried 3 different ones. Like I say I can get AV out which is no good to anyone but at least I know the boards not blown, if that scratch on the board really isn't a problem then I'm stumped....

Only extra piece of info that may be of some good is that after reassembling the first time I plugged in the hdmi to get no output - so I disassembled and tried it with the cover off, got the Google TV logo and saw hdmi was putting out so with relief I quickly pulled the power and reassembled again.

Only to find myself back at stage one... Except now the covers off and I'm not getting nothing...

Thanks for your input on this, really becoming a prominent figure in this forum for me particularly in this s89 stuff.appreciated bro

It sounds like you might have put strain on your HDMI connector, and maybe lifted it off the board slightly
                    1) Turn on the box
                    2) verify that pictures are present at AV out
                    3) Connect your HDMI cable
                    4) Firmly press the HDMI socket onto the motyherboard and check to see if the picture is restored

Thanks for your input mate, it does sound that way I agree, wouldn't be the first time iv bent or pressured a pin or connecter off of a cb but I have checked to the best of my ability (need a magnifying glass really) and couldn't see any signs , have also tried what you advised but am running out of options and fast so I am gonna try again, a bit harder lol

I rather think that it was a coincidence that the HDMI output bricks at that moment...
As I wrote actually there are some other owners with HDMI problems after a while using HDMI without any problem and maybe (not really sure) there is another problem (also like the overheating)...
It seams so geekbuying with amlogic and also oman (beelink) try to figure out something (worst case warranty)...
