MK809IV HDMI Data receiving mode setting problem ?

    Hi,

I have been dabbling about with computers and Android fair a bit but only this week i entered the world of Android TV .I purchased the device mentioned on the topic header and came across with a following problem. As setting the device up i get no signal to the telly at all ( i have a Samsung PS4E450A1WXXU 43" plasma ) , instructions leaflet for the stick says i need to change the HDMI port to receiving DATA mode, but i have no clue how to do this.I have read through the eManual build in the TV and plus downloaded and fully read the over 190 page PDF manual to no avail. When the stick is plugged onto its PSU it lights up but that all i get .Is it just that im useless or is it possibly a faulty device?I also upgraded my TV firmware to the latest version (Jan 2014) to see if that helps but nothing .I am going to contact the seller on Monday but i thought meanwhile perhaps someone here has some ideas .Will greatly appreciate any thoughts , i was so looking forward playing with this device .

Which power source did u use to turn the mk809iv up?from tv USB ?or from separate power adopter?tv USB power source not enough to boot some quad core TV payers.

Hi, thank you for your reply.I used a separate power source , i even tried a known working one (a mobile phone charger of similar specs) but it did not help.

Hi, yes did try connecting the stick directly to HDMI socket (sorry forgot mention that) but did not help .Do you flash these devices just like phones and tablets ?I have done few of those so that would not be a problem

          Update:
I just plugged the device into my PC via USB cable and Windows loads drivers for it fine and i can access the data inside the device .Could this mean i just need to somehow find a way to do this changing the HDMI socket to data receiving mode as the manual suggests ?I also inserted a Micro SD card into the device and that shows up on my PC just fine.

no u cant do anything that way.i think the boot loader is corrupted in the device.if u wanted to flash the device you have to find good rom for that device.there are custom roms available for that device.flashing not exactly same as flashing tablet.u have to download drivers for the rock chip rk3188.there r drivers for win7,win8,xp etc...u have to hold reset button while u plug the device to pc at the same time.and go to device manager and find unknown device...install drivers manually(most difficult 1st part).let me warn u...u can brick ur device by installing rom.it is easy to send it back and get new one if u bought from amazon or ****.

Oh yes i do know i cannot really do much of anything to a device just by plugging it to a PC a browsing through the files , what i really meant atleast it means the nand flash is working right?Yes i bought my iterm from **** and have send the seller a messages if they have any suggestions other than return. Will have to see how it goes, dont want to void warranty by doing anything invasive to the device before spoken to the seller, thank you for your thoughts and ideas anyway, greatly appreciated
