TuneIn / BBC wont recognise Ethernet, demand WiFi, why?

    Hello guys
    I have a CS918 with Lewy 1.2 rom.

My ethernet works fine with everything, YouTube, XBMC etc... but BBC iPlayer and TuneIn radio do not recognise the ethernet and say I need to get a data or WiFi connection to get connected.

I assume these apps think my device is a phone.

How do I get around this, it is a major problem for me as I use those apps a lot.

    Thanks!
    Mark.

Do you really going to spam around with this common problem? Edit the apk...

I have searched and have not found anything about this, and have not had any responses until your, (unhelpful) comment. Obviously I am not an advanced user, which is why I am asking... so how do you think it is helfpul to tell me to edit the apk? That is useless information, but perhaps your comment was to show how clever you are rather than to help someone.

Does anyone have any helpful tips on how to overcome this issue? I have spent hours trying ALL the roms on this forum, and none of them work with BBC iPlayer / TuneIn as they want WiFi, not Ethernet.

      Thanks.

        Sadly..
        Its not a rom.. issue

The ibbc app worked fine on my unit.. till the lastest update..
Now... if we could only get past the 'no connection' pop-up
-tried changing permissions on the app.. nope
-tried installing old version... cannot get passed the 'Update' nag screen

Only thing that works for now... xbmc addon iplayer/ibbc
-but i also prefer using ibbc app

Tunin.. just install old version or use xbmc addon
-the latest update broke the app... i get no connection on any stream //old ver work fine

I also am looking for a solution.. to the ibbc issue.. perhaps a modded version?

Hi there Mitchell, tx for the response... I have found

THIS post on XDA, but I dont understand how to do it... so if you have the expertise and get it to work, PLEASE let me know how! I think the principle is that it makes your ethernet show up as a wifi connection or something... i dont know, but have a look, perhaps its obvious to you

Look lower down in the UPDATE in his ops post, see the bit about the Xposed framework app that Hacks the Connectivity Service...

          cheers
          Mark,.
