    NEW-Q7 rom by veclinux

    Hi All,
Decided to publish my personal rom for the Q7 aka cs918 box from geekbuying.com. This rom is only for those that have purchased a Q7 box from geekbuying as I have found no other stock firmware that relates to this device. Possibly the later ekb311 boxes from eny might work also. One of my fellow Q7 users has tested on his hardware and reported works great so thought I would share. This has a custom kernel and is rooted, new artwork and boot splash, preloaded beyond xbmc (thanks flumster!!) and some other tweaks. I really like it so there ya go
    download: http://vectorlinux.osuosl.org/vec7/a...Vector_RC3.zip

let me know how it goes any suggestions im open to improve it.

    Cheers,
    Vec

hmm interesting. This doesn't bode well for fledgling rom developers if no one is willing to try there work.

      Hi veclinux,

      thanks for your ROM.

I will try to test your rom this weekend. I'm sure others will try too. Just be a little patient.

Whats the difference between this and your first rom ?

      Greetings.

        Bluetooth Fix

Hopefully it solve bluetooth connection problem on this box. My current rom, Lewy's 5/2/2014 version, will pair and connect as long as device is within less then a foot. It will disconnect if further away. Will try in the morning. TQ.

            Up & runing...

Just have a chance to play with it and reporting back about my test:

            Working: Ethernet, WIFI RCA-output

Not/Semi Working: Bluetooth. It will detect and pair but just like all recent ROM: Get disconnected if the connected device move away from the Q7. My test indicated effective range is less than 12 inches.

Not Working: Power up button after shutting down. Power button of the enclosed remote control.

Hopefully a fix can be found on the Bluetooth connection. Without it I am reluctant to move forward with other tests.

Thank you for effort in getting it to work as it should.

ok guys thanks for testing with the exception of one users bluetooth problem (which maybe related to faulty hw) seems all is good. This gives me incentive to try another. I have a Mk908II stick laying about see what I can do with that.......
Thanks again for taking the time to test !!!

                  Hi,

I think i've got the Q7, from the label on the back.

                  I'd like to try a 1080p firmware.

I don't seem to be able to find out how you insatll it this! lol... On my phone I boot into a custom recovery and install the zip of the new firmware (cyanogenmod) from there.

How do I install new firmwares on my CS918?

Can someone point me in the direction. I can see a lot of downloads but no intructions on what to do with them?

For someone who isn't a ROM developer, you've made an excellent ROM!

                      Thanks very much

Only an idea, but I see blanks at the path, maybe try to use without blanks and maybe direct at root (e.g. C:\) BUT really only an idea (because normally "prepare IDB failed" has nothing to do with the filename)...

Thanks but made no difference, see attached.
Maybe the problem happens when going back from K.K4.4 to JB4.2?

in order to get back to jb from kitkat you first have to erase the idb using the rkflash program with the kitkat rom loaded. Then you can load the jellybean version and reflash.
