I have the S89-H. I upgraded to the new firmware and can confirm that I can now connect to the Google Play Store and install apps.
Upgrade method I used:
Download the RAR file from the link given above to my PC.
Extract the RAR file.
Copy the 3 extracted files to a root of an SDCARD (using a card reader)
While Tronsmart device is OFF insert the SDCARD
Turn on Tronsmart device and opened the Update app (from my apps)
Click the Select Button - it should show the name of the ZIP file located on the SDCARD. Select it.
Click Update Button (to the left of the Select Button)
The Tronsmart device should now reboot and install the new firmware (should take about 5 minutes)
The device will then reboot again.
At this stage my device just got stuck on the color logo animation at boot for a few minutes. After a few minutes I gave up waiting and just clicked a singe key on my keyboard - It was enough to open the home screen in a second - since then everything seems to be working fine - including the App Store.
Not sure why it got stuck on the logo animation on boot after the upgrade, but everything is fine now.
Thanks a lot again
Roy

Ah, so it works without the u-boot.bin file!
Good to know. The instructions Eric wrote are not clear with regard to that.
Cheers,
Mark._________________________________________

You do not use SDcard maker for this update/ Eric's instructions are not correct.
It is just like my ZIP format ROMs. Just copy the files to sdcard and boot into recovery.
"Forgive them as they know not what they do"
