Vsync patch applied to kernel: does that require a new boot.img ??

Using the vsyncfixomatic script I applied the vsync patch to a 3.0.36 kernel for my MK808. Now I have a few n00b questions: is this supposed to fix vsync issues with 1080p video playback? and is there something to be patched in the boot.img as well and if so what tools exist to patch boot.img?

I don't know of any vsync issues on the mk808 either. jockyw2001, i think you are mixing up rk3066 and rk3188 SoCs.

Thanks for your replies. I downloaded a kernel pack for 3066 devices and in it I found kernels patched for 1080p. As I am assuming the vsync problem is the cause for the 1080p playback issues, I thought that the patchomatic can be used for this purpose. Do 3066 devices have some other 1080p issues?

What was having playback issues? If xbmc try updating libstagefright. The latest 13 alpha works well as long as you go into settings and turn on only libstagefright acceleration.

I haven't actually run into issues, I only wanted to optimize rom as much as possible and then start installing and testing XBMC. Should I install XBMC Beyond? And is hdmi passthrough supported?

Make sure you update your libstagefright....i cant get a straight answer if it is working or not...i dont have a reciever that supports it.
