Bricked my UT1 - is this the end? UPDATE: Unbricked!

So I contacted the supplier of my constantly freezing UT1 and they sent me a link to a firmware upgrade (note: Mine is a Kaebor K4 branded model).

They also provided a link to the batch tool - a chinese version.

Using that batch tool I flashed the provided firmware but at a certain point there was a bunch of red chinese writing on the screen (some sort of error) and the device was no longer recognised.

Now the unit doesn't boot and is no longer recognised by any of the batch tools when connected to my PC via the micro USB cable.

Can the device be unbricked from here? Any help appreciated.

    Cheers

    UT1 (Kaiboer F4) successfully unbricked!

Update for anyone who is interested or bricks their UT1 and needs to unbrick it.

I managed to unbrick the device by opening it up and shorting pins 7 and 8 on the NAND chip with a sewing needle and switch it on while holding the reset button.

This allowed the unit to be recognised again in MASK rom mode and I was able to erase IDB using the RKandroidTool.exe.

After that I installed the "updated" rom supplied to me by the supplier of the device using RKbatchTool.exe.

If anyone wants to try it here's the link:

    Please note:
    • The batch tool provided in the link is in chinese - use an english version.
    • Be sure to erase IDB using the RKAndroidTool.exe before flashing the rom (especially if you are attempting to flash over a kitkat rom - this rom is 4.2.2) or you will most likely hard brick the device.
    • Flash the rom using the (English) version of RKBatchTool.exe.
Please do not attempt if you are not prepared for a possible brick and the need to dismantle your unit. Having said that, the "unbricking" process was very straighforward for me.

First impressions of the rom provided in the above link:
    • No crashes so far
    • Youtube and video streamed over wifi smooth as silk - 1080p perfect
    • Netflix very choppy playback -particularly during panning scenes, it kind of "throbs".

I'll keep this loaded up for a while and see how it goes...

This is the same firmware I uploaded for waser some months ago. Still Android 4.2.2 and has the 3d launcher. I had to strip all the garbage out of it - it's ok but I really want KitKat to work

        My sentiments exactly...

I installed Apex launcher and uninstalled most of the preinstalled apps. Three 3D launcher is actually quite serviceable but i prefer something cleaner and simpler. If only Netflix would work properly...
