    Minix X8-H + netfilx HD?

I ordered the X8-H and I was wandering...

Will we finally be able to view Netflix content in full HD with 5.1 DD like chromecast users can?

    Regards,

Netflix android has lot of logic in it. Based on some users feedback and user views on different forums, I guess Netflix may not play with full hd on this device as Full HD is limited to few android devices only.

I guess getting dolby sound may not happen too for the same reasons.

I hope that above things are wrong and Netflix HD with 5.1 is possible in Minix X8-H.

We're not sure about the mechanism behind so we can't answer this question, sorry.

          If it's just about DRM check, then it should be OK because we've enabled DRM;
but if it works only with Netflix selected models, then the answer is NO.

DRM and Android version 4.3 and above are 2 factors to get Netflix in HD.

If you have enabled DRM, it is a good news for X8 and X8-H buyers as there are high chances that HD is possible.

One more question. Is this done?

This security level relies on the secure bootloader to verify the system image. An AES crypto block performs the AES decryption of the media stream and the resulting clear media buffers are returned to the CPU for delivery to the video decoder.
Device manufacturers must provide a bootloader that loads signed system images only. For devices that allow users to load a custom operating system or gain root privileges on the device by unlocking the bootloader, device manufacturers must support the following:
              • Device manufacturers must provide a bootloader that allows a Widevine key-box to be written only when the bootloader is in a locked state.
              • The Widevine key-box must be stored in a region of memory that is erased or is inaccessible when the device bootloader is in an unlocked state.

I don't think it's just 4.3+DRM, many devices fulfilled these 2 criteria but not getting HD...
so I would better say NO at this moment.
If it works, treat it as bonus instead.
                Thanks.

don't make the problem complicated, all the above can be summarized in a few words "DRM has to be enabled"

Only android device that gets HD netflix is nexus 10, all others are limited. It has nothing to do with specs, it is limited to a specific device.

Why??? they obviously can make HD available - the nexuses has it, the new Amazon fire TV has it and it is also android based... Why limit people?

The release notes for the finless rom include this (bold is mine):

                          5) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device (Nexus 10) that will show almost any APP as compatible.
This should also allow Netflix HD but I have not tested it.
Your device will show up in google play as Nexus 10 device not a Vega S89! Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
                          Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a Vega.

I guess the only way we will know for sure is once someone with access to Netflix gets an X8-H and tries a Finless ROM on it.
