    MK808B ROMs: v409j2404_overseas_xbmc_bt.img versus v409j2404_overseas.img?

Noticed a tiny difference between the 409j ROMs shared on chenfu713's Baidu ---

-two named "update_mk808b_v409j2404_overseas_xbmc_bt.img" that are 581.39 megabytes added on 2014-05-14 and 2014-03-18

-one named "update_mk808b_v409j2404_overseas.img" that is 580.86 megabytes, added on 2014-03-11.

Anyone have any ideas what the differences may be? I used the 3/11/2014 one and it was fine (720p), but then I tried the _xbmc_bt one and it hung at the Google TV logo. It's possible that I disconnected it too early after flashing, but I really doubt it.

Bee-link's webpage seems to link to the 581.39 (_xbmc_bt) one, hosted on mediafire. It even says for 903 wifi...

Just figured I would ask to see if anyone had any experience with them.

I think I am using the 409 ROM but not the bt xbmc version. I'll check tonight.

    Edit: I'm not.

      Im also using the update_mk808b_v409j2404_overseas.
But as i see now beelink has deleted the older ones and points to update_mk808b_v409j2404_overseas_xbmc_bt.

I guess it has to do with beyond xbmc. If you noticed it says "base:update_mk808b_v408j2403_overseas", so no difference. Maybe a later bxbmc version(?).
If you had problems i wont flash it. Also could you please link the chenfu713 guy?

Here is the link to chenfu713's roms:

Can you please check if in audio settings you see "ROCKCHIP HDMI PASSTHROUGH" and "ROCKCHIP HDMI 5POINT1 MULTI"

Yea, at least I was able to reflash the original 409j one over it to fix it. Just as you said, it's strange that they now only have the xbmc_bt one listed on bee-link...

For the non "_xbmc_bt" one, I can confirm that it does. I even screenshotted it and posted the picture here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...l=1#post171891

As for the _xbmc_bt ROM, it wouldn't boot for me. Stuck on Google TV screen --- unless I did something wrong such as disconnect it too soon from my computer after flashing.

Hi Bueno, your pic shows that rom doesn't have the "ROCKCHIP HDMI PASSTHROUGH" option. It shows "ROCKCHIP HDMI 5POINT1 MULTI" which is different and something like multichannel 5.1 PCM and my receiver does not support that. With my RK802-IIIS I have both these options and when I switch to "ROCKCHIP HDMI PASSTHROUGH" I can enjoy real AC3, DD5.1 and DTS surround sound decoded by my receiver. I wrote that here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...l=1#post186123

Yeah, there was some discussion about this in another thread about the older 307j ROM --- http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...tick-13-Nov-13

One person said it was playing their file with 5.1 --- seems most people said it downmixed to 2.0 --- and one person mentioned flashing a firmware for uhost 2 to their mk808 (it's not clear about whether they tested 5.1 passthrough or not).

Beyond XBMC and Gotham (RC1?) have different audio setting options --- one has more options relating to passthrough than the other. It was hard for me to test true 5.1 because I used a speaker bar, which I don't even think has a subwoofer built in. I can try using "Rockchip HDMI 5.1 Multichannel" with my actual 5.1 speakers, but the only nearby TV has speakers that make a high-pitched static sound ontop of any audio over hdmi, so I don't know if that will affect the 5.1 setup (my guess is probably, because the tv's built-in speakers work fine with regular TV using an antenna).

edit: Did more reading, seems you are right:

they launched a new firmware version with officialy 5.1 PCM support over HDMI.
its not same like AC3/DTS passthrough, but when the video player can decode that sound softwaresided, it can be possible to get 5.1 sound over HDMI.
This was info about a minix device, but I am guessing it's the same idea for the MK808/B
