bought a polaroid pmid703c from Target the tablet info in settings says it,s a pmid701I
android assistant says the same thing.

If the tablet you have has a camera then it is not a 701I. It is likely the name just was not changed in the build scripts when they were building the OS. It is even possible that it is actually the same base OS as the 701I, just with different KO modules to cover the different hardware options (like the camera).

      yes it has a camera
      thanks for the quick reply
      I feel much better

I had a 702C or 701c from Big lots that worked pretty good but wouldnt stay off when I plugged it in to charge so it went back.
This one works great but was $30 more.

      Even got play store working

        Hello,
Thank you for your inquiry Freaktab is an independent software development group not sanction by us and if you have followed their directions you have now changed the software on this of unit thus voiding the warranty this is why is reads PMID701i instead of polaroid tablet .

considering they have their own firmwares available for download, even if you attempted to return one under waranty, you could have still install a polaroid sanctioned rom before you attempted to return it, unless it was due to a physical defect that would preclude it, at which point the software was not even the issue. ironically while there have been some advocating returning a device that they messed up, the owners and operators of this site have always maintained a policy that they feel if it was the owners fault it failed then the owner should bear the costs. the truth is the blanket statement above precludes even the ability to side load android applications such as games as that topic has been discussed here on freaktab as well.
fact is the way you described things in the op is that you pulled a device from its factory packaging and it's software said it was a 701i, if that is the case then it was not even tampered with before that discovery was made and polaroids assertions are still false.

That was the case with my 702c it also said 701i for software version and this was before I loaded anything on it.
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0
