A couple of things:
1) We don't even know what Android TV is yet (not 100%)
2) Google TV has been using marvell SoC's

Google moved to unify Android and GTV starting with jellybean, before that GTV's OS was completely different compared to Android. While Android TV will probably be Kitkat, it will probably have a custom UI (pano) on top of it (possible like Fire TV, if you have seen the leaked screenshots of Android TV UI). Android TV is also supposed to have a special api for apps like netflix to display content right on the home screen (like fire tv), as opposed to just when launching the app.

My guess is all that custom UI stuff will be proprietary, and might not be as simple as just installing some apks.

edit: On a side note, i'm interested in the Minix X8-H, but holding out until we really know what Android TV is going to be. I already own a fire tv, but heavily invested into google's app store already.
