*Newbie Help Needed*

Having perused the different firnware and custom rom updates etc,i am a bit baffled as to which would be the best updates for my Minix neo x7.I have just purchased it with version 8 on,which only runs 720.I wish to update so i can watch in 1080p.
Also if anyone could point me in the direction of good clear instructions to perform the aforesaid i would be grateful,again i have looked at different ways but again unsure which is the safest and best way.

Quickshot rom 3.1 has good video instruction, I use the rom - it's great.
