How to get started - root and install?

Hi,

Is there a simply guide to setting started? How to root, get into custom recovery, install firmware?

I've done this on a phone, but can't seem to find the basics for this?

Note..
Root is Not required to install a new Rom\firmware

However before installing a new Rom\firmware.. you first need to know..
What pcb\motherboard your unit has.. (there are many version\revisions on the market)
For reference only..

After id-ing your unit..
you can use search on freaktab to find a possible (compatible) custom rom for your unit

I have the board and found a firmware. Got that much.

Still can't find how to flash it.

1. unplug all cables from device.
2. plug micro usb otg cable into device and into pc (nothing else)
3. press and hold litle restore button on which is under device
4. plug in power cord (remember to still hold restore button) and you are in flash mode
5. First boot can take some time to load(5 minutes or more) as new drivers are loaded
