HD TV & DVD Player are playing fuzzy?

My TV can upscale to 1080i, and my DVD player can up scale to 1080p, when watching a film on 480 the picture is fine, when i upscale to 720 i get little white dots on the screen, when i upscale to 1080i i get loads of white dots on my screen, can anyone help pls as it is doing my head in now!!! I have a Techwood LCD HD 37" TV and a Foehn & Hirsch HDMI DVD player 1080P DIVX/XVID/MP4 with USB playback DVD player

Where the dots.. always there? Or did the show-up later
I would try a different hdmi cable
Or
Try a different Tv to see if the dots also show-up there
-then you can see, if its the dvdplayer or tv issue

Anyway.. just a thought.. goodluck
