XGA monitor on Rockchip-powered keyboard PC?

Hi chaps, first post, so hope I don't tread on any toes.

I'm one of the handful of users worldwide who came out of the IndieGoGo 'Coolship' campaign with a working computer. This is a keyboard with a built-in RK3066, USB ports, SD card, HDMI and VGA outputs and an Android OS (which I don't like very much). I'd like to install Picuntu.

I bought the computer specifically for a low-power application, and I want to partner it with a low-power LCD monitor. The one I have available does 1024x768, 800x600, and 640x480. I'd prefer to use XGA resolution if possible. The monitor has a VGA connector and I'd rather use the Coolship's VGA than an HDMI adapter.

As I understand it, pre-built Picuntu installations are designed for the HDMI capabilities of TV sticks. I need a kernel which is specifically built for the port and resolution at which I intend to run the system.

I can if necessary compile a new kernel, but I've never had to mess with a framebuffer before and don't really know what I'm doing.

    Questions:

    i. Has anyone done something similar?
ii. Does anyone have a kernel available which will support the display setup I describe?
iii. If I have to roll my own, can someone poiint me at a good source of information on eg fb0 or whatever?

    TIA, Will / Niftyprose

    Hello,

I understand that you have this Monitor, but i would go for a better one with last 1280x720.
This will fix a lot of issiues.
You can switch the resolutions from Terminal also.
    Try this first.
