Neo X7 wi-fi refuses to work

    Hi

Had the box now for a few days and still cannot connect to the Wi-Fi. Well it connects then says saved then disconnects. Eventually is stops at 'Authentication Problem'. Have made sure password is correct several times but no luck. I have several devices that work fine. Seems other people having same problem but cannot find a resolution.

    Thanks

There are a number of possible reasons for WiFi connection issues...

Do not place your router and device too close or too far away from each other. Most people know and understand about being too far ( but often don't think of it )... but being too close also causes trouble where the signal ( because it is so strong close together ) is overdriven and is distorted.

Dense walls/floors or those with a lot of steel or iron in them can block WiFi signals.

Large electrical appliances such as refrigerators, heaters, air conditioning units and similar that are between the router and device can also block the WiFi signal. In fact, the TV or monitor itself can also cause interference or block the signal.

Other 2.4Ghz ( or 5Ghz ) devices can cause interference if placed too close or there are too many of them taking up the available channels. Cordless telephones, wireless cameras and many other devices are just a few examples of these. Place the other devices no closer than 6ft or 2m.

Use an app such as WiFi Analyzer to check to see if the area has a lot of other WiFi traffic. If so... try selecting a channel that is less used on the router.

In some very rare cases.... sometimes two devices of certain make/models simply are not compatible with each other. It is rare enough that I almost didn't mention it and usually unlikely as a possible cause... but it can happen.

Thanks for the info, I did wonder if it as a compatibility issue, but it does actually connect then save and disconnects then over again until it gives up.
Having a similar problem with XBMC remote which i have working on a Windows 7 machine, but the X7 does not want to know.
It's working on a wired connection but not impressed with it not being able to do a couple of basic functions!

The Neo x7 and x7 mini are some of the best quality devices... if you are having issues, its more likely something software based....

WiFi connects/disconnects are the type of thing I'd expect from a compatibility issue but as I said... it's a very rare thing to come across. You can test for this type of issue by going to a friend or family members place and use their WiFi ( if it's a different brand/model ) just to see.

You need to first go through the possible items I listed and make certain it is none of those or those types of things first. We can make suggestions and point you in directions to check... but it is still up to you to follow up on those and check if they are valid or not in your situation. Otherwise we are wasting our time.

If you have flashed a ROM update ... reflash and make certain you selected one for the x7 or the x7 mini... they each have their own ROM's and can't use a ROM from the other one. If you didn't use a stock ROM... try a different custom one instead.
