    Rikomagic Official 4.4 release for MK802IV AP6210.

Ran across a new RKM release for the MK802IV. Going to investigate the madness that lies within, tonight... From what I've read the WiFi and root rights might need work, but won't be able to justify the specifics until I put it through benches and tests.

    Here ya go:

    MK802IV Android 4.4 software(140526):S/N from 201307**** till now

Wild guess most of the work was done here and they just did some cosmetic changes to make it look like they did work on it.

Haha. I will know by tonight. Gonna post build.prop for examination by those who are interested. If it is decent firmware I will be heartily surprised. It will more than likely be a butchered flail towards what KK should be.

            I installed this myself.

Runs nicely, XBMC goes to full screen.

But I had to root it myself (same as MK902 on KK), rootchecker says it's rooted but can't get root access.

Unlike the MK902, CIFS isn't built in to the kernel, so MountManager can't mount my CIFS shares to a folder, something I need for my XBMC shared library. Tried manually loading cifs.ko with md4.ko and nls_utf8.ko but- didn't work either.

Until there's a CIFS version, I guess I'll have to stick to 4.2 for now...

Didn't bother installing it since after talking with the people there programming it apparent they are seriously clueless.

Nearly ever firmware they put out is a butchered mess of someone else work with only a couple of exceptions.

Look how long it always takes them to put the stuff out , way after others have done the work.

Agreed. I had every intent on flashing it to my stick last night, but can't see it being a better fit than the JellyBean NCR 1.9a I've been running smoothly for months.

Magnus: I know you have a -T chip, but I'm curious as to what are you running on your stick right now. You still gunning 1.9a, too?

Running neomode 3.1 kitkat with D33 last kernel.
There was a scaling issue but a fix popped up today for that.

The only other issue with it was it lacks a keyboard but one is easily downloaded.

I think the only other problem with kitkat kernels is camera are too dark.

                  Otherwise very stable.

Re: Rikomagic Official 4.4 release for MK802IV AP6210.

                    Thanks, Magnus.
For myself it was the lack of media key compatibility and key combo functionality on my K400 keyboard that killed my drive to see 3.1 go for the long haul and switched back to 1.9a. I rely heavily on the keyboard's shortcuts, as do the rest of my fam. Couldn't find an app or tweak that reproduces the Windows style keyboard responses. In 1.9a Alt-Tab even brings up an open program window, completely distinct from the list it's system bar counterpart will bring onscreen. I really do need to look into this, because sticks and boxes are far more reliant on keyboards than Google is paying attention to. I cant be the only cat who wants to copy, paste and cycle through open apps with key strokes. Should ask Neo what the 1.9a was based on. Maybe if I dig, the answer is there.... If I could recreate the same functions under KK, I would be sold and give 3.x a swing. Hopefully there will be a new release for my non-T stick soon, though.

Installed this yesterday. As it was already noted, it's not rooted properly so I had to reroot it and looks like CIFS is missing or there is another problem with it.. It comes with XBMC installed but haven't tested it as I don't use it. Other than that everything seems to work OK.

How did you manage to make d33's latest kernel 4.xx work with custom made ROM, like this nice one of Neo, v3.1 is still mystery to me.

D33 said that his kernels 4.xx can work with STOCK ROM only, but you made it with CUSTOM made ROM on MK802IV New Wifi.

                        Mystery remains.

Maybe someone can try this Stock ROM to upgrade with d'33 kernel 4.2 if it is possible.

                          Not quite what he said.
Its doesn't work with beta roms and neo 3.1 isn't built from a beta source.

So you just flash with neo rom and set up location services and then after that's done flash with neo latest kernel and your good to go.

As for this stock rom i don't know but no kernel is going to fix the butchering rikomagic tends to do to the roms they put out.

I tried yesterday d33's 4.2 kernel on this ROM, hoping it would solve CIFS problem..

The kernel works with this ROM without issues, but the problem with CIFS remains exactly the same, so I believe CIFS is not missing from the original kernel and there is some other issue with 4.4.2 security..

But I did manage to get CIFS somehow working, see this thread: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...l=1#post193408

Not a huge surprise its the rom since they seem to find new ways to butcher them without the most basic of testing before releasing.

I mean how do you release a room with broken root without bothering to test something that basic.
