    Hi
I would use a tool/app called 'total commander'

On right side, browse to us stick
    /mnt/USB

    On left side, browse to
    Sdcard/download

    Select file(s) or folder
Hit 2nd button (with arrow to the right)

    Goodluck

Re: question: how to transfer files to usb memory stick

Have you booted the device with the USB sticks plugged in? Some firmware won't mount drives properly unless its from a fresh boot. When all else failed on my rooted Nex7, Stickmount by Chainfire worked.
        Good luck!

For some reason it just decided to work today so I'm happy,

I just need to become acquainted with the total commander app now,
I didn't want to move multiple folders across... Just selected avi files

Going in each folder..ticking the files then moving them didnt workout....only the last file selected transfered successfully so i had to do it individually 1by1 in the end.

Im also wondering if its possible to rename files

I do this for my family so they have tvshows to watch
They dont need to read .dvdrip etc
I keep it simple for them

          Thanks for advice btw
