    Minix Neo X8 stock ROM Beta 6/13 in ZIP format

    OK folks. Minix is releasing their ROMs as flashable images using the AML flash tool.

    Unfortunately Windows 8.1 users have problems getting the drivers installed and the flash tool working.
    I don't have Windows 8 so cannot test why the drivers are a problem.

    But.... as always here is the stock ROM in ZIP update format.

    This is the Minix X8 BETA 6/13 ROM just released.

    I hope you dont mind that i put it here next to yours.

    Without factory reset:

    This lets you keep all your apps and data!

    INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR THIS ROM !!, read instuctions from bob his rom if you use that one!

    Instructions:
    Make sure you have a USB keyboard plugged in or you will not be able to use the menu.
    Also this will not work if the OTG cable is connected, plese remove it first.

    How to flash:
    1. download firmware zipfile.
    2. DO NOT UNZIP!, the zipfile IS the update package!
    3. format a sdcard or usbstick to FAT32
    4. Put the .zip file on the root of the sdcard or usbstick.

    5. Power off the MINIX
    6. Insert the sdcard or usbstick.
    7. press the restore button with a pin ( insert in the recovery hole on the back ) and KEEP it pressed.
    8. Press the powerbuttin and keep it pressed till you see the boot logo, then let go
    9. let go of the restore button

    You will see a menu:
    1. Select : apply update from EXT ( using your keyboard cursor )
    2. Select : Update from Sdcard / Update from udisk << usbstick
    3. Select the .zip file
    4. hit enter and wait till its done.

    When it is done select reboot and hit enter.
    All done!!

    The only change from stock Beta002 is that i added a hardwareguru bootlogo and animation.

      FYI it's sketchy on AML if you do not format /data and remove stuff!
      I know I can do that too but stability becomes a big problem depending on what you changed! Also the /data path is messy.

      In my opinion unless your doing some simple patching, erase /data! Trust me I have done weeks of testing around this area.

      On this update in my opinion, it should be erased!

      P.S. a mouse will work to on recovery. It's just a bit laggy.

        I am still testing this without clearing /data and seems to go good so far.
        Will dig into this a bit further asap and see how such things can be improved.
        I am curiouse how it will go and hope to see some feedback soon

        Also tried a mouse but it is rolls endlessly through the menu if i touch it..
        So a keyboard is still the best choice i think.

          Ok guys a 24 FPS patch is in the make.. i just kicked my X8 to 1920x1080 @ 24hz without any problems



          Will be online after good testing, probably within an hour or two

            I'm new to all this, but .. is that correct ?

              yes, it is correct, is not the recovery.img, is a part of /system/etc. I don't know if it is useful in this rom, but is a part of the script released by other manufacturers. If a recovery folder is present inside the zip, it will be restored.

                BINGO !!!.. 1080p @ 24 FPS



                First thought was to make a simple bootscript... patch but now.. It is in the HDMI selection !!

                just finisched it.. now i will bake the rom arround it..

                    I installed the ported minix neo 8 room on my beelink m 8 round with the minix kernel. Can I instal this update?

                        No, you need a ported version which doesn't exist (only the one you use, maybe Finless will do the next one at 002 stock (but I don't think so, because he did it only to show the minix rom to the round device owner) but not at the betas)...
