M8 Problems

First of all hello. I have read a number of topics on here.

1. loss of sound every so often on XBMC for around 5 seconds
2. I am getting 3 meg max from wifi 2.4. No signal on 5ghz. I am using a Virgin Superhub.

I have managed to fix the off centred picture. However, I tried to Modify system/etc/firmware/config.txt,change ccode=CN to ccode=ALL. I do not have permission. I have tried the SU app but this only gives access to apps. File Manager is not included. Any ideas?

That's what I was using. I can't save it once I've amended it. Any other ideas?

you have to run/load it via sd/usb via recovery...

Run what? How do you go into recovery? Thanks for taking the time to reply.

1) Copy this ZIP onto the SDcard or USB (pen) drive
2) Power off the device and unplug power.
3) Plug power back in, make sure it doesn't boot!
4) Using a tooth pick to press and hold the reset button (inside the A/V).
You know you have pressed it if you feel the click.
5) While holding the reset button down, press the power button and keep holding the reset button!
6) While holding the reset button, wait until you see the logo and you can then release the reset button.
7) Select "Apply updated from EXT"... Select the file.
Recovery will install the patch and drop you to the main recovery menu.
(You will see messages about what it is doing. Watch for errors.)
8) Select Reboot Now and the system will reboot and the ROM will be installed.
Your Done!

Do these boxes support 5ghz signal?

System is mounted read only y default.
In ES file explorer turn on root.
then click the enable root line and a dialog will pop up. click mount RW and set everything to write.
Now when you go to save a file in system you wont get a permission error.

Also you have to be rooted!

This worked to let me change the file. However, my wifi is terrible. 1 meg wifi 2.4ghz and wont pick up 5ghz at all. Can anyone else help with the problems above? Am I better getting rid of this box?

TMz has mentioned you may need to resolder a wire inside my 2.4ghz works great around 12 metres through 1 wall 5ghz 6 metres max

Where is this post from TMZ? I'm not keen on soldering with no experience on a brand new box.
