A2 Remote - Battery Issues

I have the A2 remote + Quickshot v3.1 rom. The battery doesn't last more than 1-2 days of usage (probably 2-3hr of usage per day). I remember reading somewhere this is known issue and it is related to the voice/sound portion of the remote. I don't use MIC or sound, but I'm not sure if this automatically gets turned on. I have kids who don't know to turn it off or on.

Any solutions? Kinda ridiculous that it would have such short battery life. Maybe turning off the MIC within Android would fix it? Any ideas appreciated.

I have the Mele F10-Pro and this device allow to set sound on with the volume buttons. If no media is playing the device set off the sound.
