How can I revert to stock 104K5?

I am a big fan of Bob's ROMs and even though finless 1.7 seems to work great, there seem to be very subtle quality issues with playback using the aml decoder (note that I have a 70" tv so small defects are quite noticeable). The problem could be with the underlying 105k5 so I'll avoid it if I can. Check out.

When I first received the box last week, it had 104K4 and Oman's XBMC from 05/12 installed and this seemed to play the videos in question much better.

Does anyone know where I can get the the 104k4 stock ROM and how to flash it back?

Ok so the ROM was still available on the tronsmart site:

    http://www.mediafire.com/download/dh...art_sdcard.rar

But how do flash it ? Can I just follow the same instructions I used for flashing finless 1.7 from stock ?

      Yep, use the same proceedure.

Maybe you just wait a little longer...Geek just posted a new firmware for the M8 Amlogic S802 (Square box)that may help with some of your issues..

        Fixes include:

        1. with XBMC new version 13.1 installed
        2. the screen problem with video playback when the resolution is not 1080P
        3. support 4K*2K video now

Firmware upgrade for the vega S89 should not be too far behind.....

          Cool !

I guess I'll wait a bit since videos are still very watchable (just not perfect!).

          Thanks for posting the info.

I tried to roll back to 104k4 from the finless 1.7, and the installer got to the step of verifying the package, and it then popped up an error about not being able to flash file of date etc to date etc, so it has obviously realised the package is older than what's already installed...
does that mean I have to use the built in updater app, and select wipe first?

            cheers Addy

I rolled back to 1.6 from 1.7, just by sticking 1.6 on sd card and rebooting the system with the reboot app. it auto did everything.

Was able to revert to 104k4 using the sdcard/recovery boot method. Worked like a charm and video is back to normal

hmm, so did you use the file linked couple of posts back? it's a RAR file so I unpacked it using Winrar into the zip and 2 other files, put them on a usb stick, and selected it using the update app..
might put the 3 files on a sd card and try the toothpick method...

                  bugger

SD card yeah, as when it reboots it wont auto mount a USB stick, so SD best method.

I think, if you have a .RAR, you have an .IMG inside and because of the .IMG you have to use the USB flash tool (PC - USB-OTG-cable - OTG-at-device)...

                      EDIT:
Sorry, there also exit the sd-card-version as a RAR, but if you get problems with it, try the IMG-version... it works at every up- and downgrade for me...

AND with SD/USB (version) I think only toothpick method will work

If you want to flash the rar posted above, unrar it and put the three files ON THE SDCARD (in the root dir).

Remove the power cable from device and plug it back in. make sure you disconnect anything on the OTG port.

Insert toothpick into a/v cable hole until you hear a click (reset button). keep it depressed while pushing the power. You can remove the toothpick after you see the logo.

                        voila!

PS: You may want to compare these instructions with Bob's readme in case my bad memory results in a brick.

ok I got it! thanks for your help guys -> insert virtual beers here <-

using updater app, or finless's 'reboot app' will work if the rom is newer ie: an update

the toothpick method bypasses the first 3 steps ( verification of files ) so it will allow to flash an older rom.

I un-rar'ed the package and extracted to 3 files directly to root directory of sd card as rapalax posted.

I had backed up all google calender related services from finless' rom, so once install was complete, I restored them, so now the calender synchs with my google account aswell !
Not sure why, but I can't get location services to work, ( they did on finless 1.7) as 'google now' isn't bringing up my local weather tile anymore...
