    Advise on a Tv box

    Hi guys,
Im a newbie to all of this and so I apologies for such basic questions.
I only learn about Android tv boxes the other day from a colleague from work.
He recommended me to get a M8 box off a seller on **** for £150.
He said it would be worth paying the extra money as the company supply the box fully configured for you to use out the box along with lifetime support.
Before I commit to buying one I wanted to see if anyone else would recommend this box or maybe another.
I want the box mainly for films and tv series. I will be using it downstairs, with my router being upstairs so I would need the wifi on the device to be good also.

Just saw your question. I disagree with your friend. I have sought & dreamed of a SMALL & SIMPLE TV Box for years, since about 1995when I new the technology (components existed). I was also frustrated by the fact Microsoft Cartel managed to crush small Berkely Softworks, a startup l aunched by top programmers from the 16K memory limit video arcade industry (largely Atari back then). These were highly talented, tight code writers. They produced a GEOSWOrKS
graphic operating system for Commadore 64, Apple GS & then comitted suidcide by releasing GEOS for Desktop (IBM clones) Gates crushed the million dollar a year company as Windows was nothing but a blinking screen cursor then.

Their huge size allowed them to dominate the emerging pocket , handheld (clamshell) computer market lead by Casio, Packard Bell, HP & etc with one dog of a portable OS called CE. Only (Sharp) Zaurus, a Japanese maker, escaped by being wise enough to use Linux. They still dominate the Japanese & Third World Asia portable computing market.

Over the years, I tried everything. The only thing that worked well for TV & Movies was my own desktop modified to be a HTC (Home Theater Computer). I tried some HDMI stick type Android units and found them all inadequate, even with a lot of modification and flashing of Finless Bob ROMS. Roku box works very well but Roku company gives the hype and illusion of a true Android TV box while in reality Roku serves not box owners but for profit content providers such as Hulu Plus, Netflix, Amazon, etc from which Roku gets a cut of the profits from each provider.Roku spends an incredible amount of money and time on making the box un-hackable. The closest you can get to truly owning a Roku is to use third party channels. Roku even controls them by taking down channels they do not want. Roku and its content providers do not want owners disracted from them with a real USB device channel so they block practical ones and offer and allow only seriously slow & limited ones. It allows no Internet Browsers or Email. Until very recently it blocked YouTube and its YouTube channel is pathetically bad!

I recommend Matricom's MX2 box which Amazon sells for about $100. MX2 comes with Matricoms own version of XBMC Media Player and it works Out of the box! Matricom is a small company and the MX2 is their first hit product so they have some quirks to work out of their very good XBMC player ROM! Decide for youself but I would not spend 0ver $150for a box off **** before researching the Matricom MX2!

I've seen many an **** ad with the same kind of guff being spouted.

They just want your money and nothing else.

The M8 can be had for just over a ton and it's worth the effort to get it to work as you want it and not as somebody else thinks you do.

There is plenty of support on here too.

Have a look at Futeko as one example of a supplier that has UK stock.
