    Why root an M8?

Can anyone explain what benefit rooting my M8 with the new 0616 fw would bring me..... Could I access more settings or so?

If you root any device that will give you the permission to access and manage the files and folders from the root level ...

root is the 'master user' at a Linux system with full access to the system (like administrator at windows). Android bases on Linux. So rooting your device means to be able to use the root user at android, which means to have full access to the system with all it aspects...
One aspect can be loading kernel modules (like install drivers at windows)...
