Can't get my PTAB7XC to connect to WiFi
I have had the PTAB7XC for about a month and had been connecting to WiFi with no problems but went to connect to Wifi last night and it just kept saying "Obtaining IP Address" then would say "Saved, Secured with WEP" then for a split second said "Connected" then went right back to saying Obtaining IP Address. Any ideas what the problem could be and how I can correct it? I love it and I would hate to have to return it cause I purchased it at Kohls and they no longer sell it online and I don't think my local stores carry it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Tags: None

No, I'm using my home WiFi connection and have had no trouble before.

Yes, I rebooted both. I also did a factory reset of the tablet and it is still doing it. I have laptops I use on the WiFi connection and they are working perfectly. I just can't believe that only having it a month something went wrong with it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Might be worth changing the wifi channel on the router, you could be getting interference from someone close using the same frequency.
I use an app called 'WiFi Manager' that can scan for wifi and let you know who is on what channel.
<edit> just re-read your post and saw your laptops are fine, could be that the tab is a little more sensitive to interference from other channels than them...
This is on an A10bG3 BTW.

try a public wifi
I would also check your tablet on a public wifi, such as the library, Barnes & Nobles bookstore, or McDonalds. As for your router channels, 1, 6, & 11 are the best ones to use in the USA. If you have close neighbors, use the pc application InSSIDer to see how strong the signals are around you. These tablets have tiny antennas compared to your laptop. My home microwave is near channel 9 and interferes with channels 6 & 11 when I cook food. Wifi channels in the 2.4ghz range actually overlap 2 channels below and above, so channel 9 spans 7-11.

Ok so I was able to connect to a public WiFi network with no problem but am still not able to connect to my home WiFi. It still keeps saying "Obtaining IP Address" but won't connect. I also downloaded inSSIDer and I am not picking up anyone elses WiFi signal so I don't think that would be the problem. I am having trouble logging into my router website to be able to change the channel just in case(everytime I try to put type in the password, each letter and/or number I type, it types extra letters and/or numbers). I'm certainly no techie but would my next step be to maybe reset the router? I'm hesitant because I can't afford to mess things up and not have an internet connection at all since I do work from home. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since your laptops work and your tablet doesn't, and your tablet seems to connect fine elsewhere, try deleting your home Wi-Fi connection on the tablet and setting it up again, noting the settings your laptops use to connect.
It's not impossible that your wpa_supplicant file may have become corrupted somehow...

Still not working
So I have finally been able to get into my router website and the channel setting is set on "Automatic". I changed it to 1, then 6 then 11 and still nothing. I also told the tablet to "forget" the WiFi connection but I'm not sure how to totally delete the connection. But even after telling it to forget the connection, it retains the WEP info but I have to put in my password again. But still nothing. It still won't connect. Any other help would be greatly appreciated...........thanks
