I did some tests today and wondered why there is no standby red led to me it winner no one want a flood light glaring in their eyes while watching a movie.

Took some voltage measurements if the red empty pads had voltage and also ways to eliminate or reduce the power blue light without affecting the remote ir sensor that shares the same triangle Perspex glass

I dimmed the blue led by painting it with some black nail polish. Painted all but the back side of the led. Can still see the lit in a but its not glaring anymore. I think its less intrusive and reversible than a hardware modification.
