Is there anything someone want me to test to compare it with the X8-H?

Hi titooo, it would really interest me, how the nuc compares to android devices in gaming. Could you maybe boot it to android, and check if games work on it (asphalt 8, etc.), or how it scores in AnTuTu? I searched for any info about it, but didn't find anything so far. I just received my X8-H two days ago, but I'm not satisfied with it; it constantly crashes, and there are always something which does not work as expected. Thanks a lot in advance...

There's no real working Android ROM for the NUC. The NUC is primarily a Windows device.

um, there is android x86? http://www.android-x86.org/

you may have trouble getting apps with native parts built for arm to work, but running the os itself should be a non-issue.

Yeah, I installed it on my DN2820FYKH. Its very buggy, sound didn't work on mine and in general its not easy to use. Most of the apps (nearly all) I tried didn't work or force closed as you said. You couldn't really use it as a daily driver more really as a novelty.

I just wanna say, I'm a proud owner of Intel NUC core i5 version (D54250WYKH) with Ubuntu 14.04 in it.
I don't have any thermal issues, no reboots, no stuttering, no plastics.
It has IR built-in as well.

                chromebox

How does the ASUS chromebox compare to the minix X8-h? pricewise they are almost same.

i don't care about chrome os - and planning to load linux mint xfce and xbmc. for me hulu free (NOT plus) and espn3 are a must.

i like the android box - since it is fanless, appliance like and hulu free is available in android. i also like the flexibility that linux can provide.

codec wise - can the minix play everything the chromebox can play?

any one care to comment? thanks.

It use a fan. I found a German page which writes about fan getting louder with time...

                  Loud fan

We noticed that the fan was getting louder with time. He was at first not to hear, with increasing operating time, especially when playing multimedia content and with many open tabs, but he is always audible.

I think people should wait and see how googles own tv box is working. You know they are taking another wag at it. On my X8-H. I have problems every blue moon, 1080p is working VERY well for me. I even have some 10gb Blue Ray rips that I play on it from a 2tb usb harddrive. Everything plays just fine, Netflix isn't that big of a deal for me since my two large screen tv's are both smart tv's so I can watch hi-def netflix that way. the minix has a tiny form factor, is silent, can play games, and is cheaper to operate. I actually like my X8-h.

I'm running Openelec on my NUC 2820 and it never skips a beat
                      No stuttering or pixelated frames.
No fan noise for me - it's mounted behind a 50' LG tv.
Very impressed for the money. Win 8 is great on it as well for dual boot.
Not really a gaming device though ..........

                          I returned my NUC.
I now got an i5 minipc for aliexpress and since then I put the minx in a box and never used it again. It cost more but it's absolutely worth.

As I couldn't sell the minix x8-h for at least £80 I will give it to my family when I go back to my country for holidays.
