HDMI not working? Read this! There may be a simple fix!

The problem: The HDMI connector is almost 3mm (1/8 inch) inset on the tablet. In other words the cable isn't going deep enough into the tablets connector. It does not insert far enough into the tablet to make the proper connection.

Solution: For me, I cut 3mm (1/8 inch) of plastic off of my hdmi cable's connector. The connector can now go deeper into the tablet. You could also buy a different cable as obviously other people aren't having the same problem.

I've just bought a HDMI cable that does work, but the sound is very quiet.
Even with the TV on full I can hardly hear it.

Any ideas ?

Change the settings on your tv for sound. Usually there are a few options for sound output

I've just tried this again on my HDMI monitor.
Still getting sound via tablet and Screen !!


Cable is a nice fit, so I don't think it's that.
Faulty cable ? or faulty tablet ?

Yea my fix is for when you aren't getting any response from hdmi.

To answer your question though it is probably neither. More than likely it's a software issue.

You are getting sound from tablet and tv when you should only get sound from screen. Also, the sound you do get from the tv is very weak.

I just tested mine and I too get sound from both tv and tablet. I notice the volume on the tv responds to the volume control on the tablet so if the volume on the tablet is low it will also be low on the tv.

Well one simple fix might be to plug in a headset into the headset jack. Now you wont hear the sounds from the tablet. Heck you could probably go to radio shack and buy a spare jack with no wires on it to use as a dummy plug.

Tested it and both these options work. Just happened to have an adapter laying around to use for the dummy plug. Sound continues out of the tv with either head phones or a dummy plug installed with no sound from tablet.

Tried changing the screen res in settings but still locked tablet up.

The hdmi lead was from my Kodak hd camcorder but don't see what difference that would make. Might try to order a cheap one off Amazon to see if that will cure it

It is a fresh install of bobs Rom and have not messed with it at all. Suppose it is worth a try I will try my other tvs maybe it don't like my Panasonic plasma lol

I have the same problem as Damo

When I connect the HDMI cable to my LG TV the tablet hang, and only force shutdown is working.
I thought it's the cable, but it works fine with another tablet.
I tried to connect to a projector at work - got the same result - the tablet just hang.

I also noticed that if i wait a little, the tablet display become distorted like a corrupt digital photo -
bright color lines, pink white and such, and random pixels are getting all sorts of colors.

I tried different roms, official and custom, but all get the same result.

any suggestions other then demanding a replacement from eternal team?
have anyone got a replacement from eternal team and have tips to share on how to get them to send it ASAP? it took a month for my window N101 to get here. I don't want to wait for 2 more month for the new one to get here...
