N101 SDcard FAT corruption issue - This makes any SDcard pretty much UNUSABLE!

quick query can someone tell me how to get the unit to recognise the SD card in the first place

For me it was basically turning the device completely off, plugging in the SD card, and then turning the device on.

After that, it is crucial to NOT use the card at all because of this issue. Why? Well, it's simply too easy to corrupt the data on it by accident, so to prevent loss of data, it's best not to have any on it. Besides this, there is also a bug that I find highly annoying: when a SD card is placed, the screen quite often turns on while the device is in standby.

I have all my hopes placed on Bob at the moment to improve the tablet's functionality even further, hopefully even solving the SD problems (with a little help from Yuandao).

There are some things you can do to use the card but it's not optimal.

1) format the card NTFS then it will not get corrupted. Only problem is you can't do CWM backups to it. Onl to internal memory.
2) To keep the tablet from waking up, it's not really the SDcard that is doing it. It's wifi sleep. Go into wifi settings in advanced and turn off wifi sleep. That is wifi does not sleep. It will stop waking up on its own. Problem there is you use more battery while in sleep.

I wont be able to fix this without Yuandao fixing it with a new kernel.

FYI formatting 8192 did not help. The tablet formats it 8192 anyway. Do a df command from a command shell and you can see it's already 8192.

Do you mean partitioning the SDcard with FAT and a 2nd ext4 parition for link2sd support? If so, yes you can use CWM to parition the 2nd EXT4 partition on SDcard.

Or do you mean the entire card is formatted EXT4? If you mean this, then no. I have not modified the system to use sdcard as EXT4. I can do that but then many pother people may not like it as you cannot use it on a PC without installing things in the PC to use EXT4.

I mean second, and yes, I'd welcome this option to be available because i prefer to use both Titanium Backup and CMW updates concurrently.

Though it is not necessary, since there is a lot of internal memory that we can use for CWM needs.

Well you will be happy to know as I said above. Yes you can do this 2nd ext4 parition. I am using auto mount so it will detect the format etx2 through ext4.
