    MK808B (MT5931) bricked

    Hello,
I think I need som help unbricking my MK808b (if that is still possible). I have a clone, not sure which, but it has the MT5931 chip on it and a chip with a big "S" on it, so I assume its a Sunvel clone.

I tried to flash clockworkmod ( downloaded from: http://vondroid.com/threads/how-to-f.../#.U65dCbEeiMJ ) to my MK808b and while flashing the screen went black and it wont boot anymore, guess I used the wrong CWM zip. I tried to unbrick it with the tools in the finless 1.7 kit.

Im using Win 8.1 and the MK808b isnt recognized. I was able to install the drivers but the rom flash tool doesnt recognize the MK808b. The alternative flash tool doesnt recognize it either. Tried it in flash mode with the hidden button pressed (the blue light still works but after about 3 min the MK808b shuts down or something and the blue light goes out), same result. Everytime I connected the MK808b using while pressing the flash button So I installed Win7 on a virtual machine and connected the stick while pressing the flash button. I saw Win7 was trying to find software for the device but failed. Installed the drivers on Win7 and the device was found in Win7 but the status said the device couldnt be started. The Rom flash tool also saw the device at this point, but like before, the MK808b went dead after about 2/3 minutes and the connection with the flash tool dropped.

I then connected the device again and ran back to my PC to erase the NAND, which was successfull.. but now the device isnt found by the flash tools anymore (from Win7).

I tried to get the device in "Masked Mode" but that doesnt seem to work (using this guide:http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...D-on-the-MK808 ), looks like theres a different chip(s, I see 2 smaller chips there) near the HDMI port. Tried to wiggle a needle in between the PCB and the cooler and shorted pin 8/9 ... after doing it my MK808b powered down I think (blue light went out). So no "Masked Mode"

Is there anything else I can try to fix it ? Thanks in advance!

Do you have access to another win7 or XP PC? Or try using another usb cable.

Got my hands on a different computer, this one does find the MK808B. I tried to erase NAND with success... but now it wont flash finless rom, error msg: Download IDB Failed ...

If I uncheck the loader from the flash tool, it flashes so I guess I have a locked loader ??? How can I get around this ?

      Thanks!

Try the rockchip android tool v 2.1, it can erase flash and put device into mask mode for when different firmwares cause conflict.

Also, if you have MTK chip you can run Kit Kat 4.4.2 https://www.dropbox.com/s/v3wj19r02k...4.4_140617.rar

I flashed finless 1.7 but I still get a black screen ... my TV says "No signal' ... wrong rom ? Tryout out different roms now, also the one on dropbox but the download is a bit slow.

Finless rom is for the original MK808B that came with the rk903 WIFI chip. You have a different version, you have to flash another rom. Maybe the one posted by Shomari works. If not, open your device and post pictures of both sides of the board, maybe we can tell you which rom you can flash.

The rom from Shomari didn't work... I found one that does (he had the same problem as me, flashed CWM, tried to heh, and then it stopped working).

The rom in the topic also worked for me. But still no real 1080p
              Tried finless 1.7 /2.1 /probox 3.1 / and the rom shomari posted .. Any others I could try for 1080p ?

              Thanks!
